The ODB3 is such an awesome, nasty, versatile, and underrated fuzz pedal for guitar. I feel stupid for not finding out about that a decade ago instead of a couple months ago
It gets a lot of hate which I don't get at all. Well, I guess maybe if you're a bassist looking for an overdrive, then...

I think my first pedals were some Boss or Zoom multi's that my father bought (he used to be a guitar teacher), I hated them but foolishly started trying all kinds of
multi-fx, even rack units and stuff, I was never able to get a cool sound out of any of those.
My father also had some Boss pedals like the DD-5 and some chorus pedal, I think an older CH-1.
Oh yeah, and I remember having a TS-9DX at some point.
I even bought back the DD-5, a bit out of nostalgia and also because it's actually a cool pedal that I could get for cheaps.

When I really realised pedals were the way to go for me I started out with the following setup:
OC-2, Qtron+, Phase 90, Visual Volume, Big D, Deluxe Memory Man, Headrush (I still have the underlined ones)
Afterwards I added: Amp 50, Pickle Vibe, Small Clone

It was actually Dr. Scientist and in particular the Cosmichorus that drew me to ILF, funny enough I never got one of those but after that I was looking for fuzzes
that could sound like a synth and I learned about the Wolf Computer, which is my first ILF B/S/T purchase, after that it just went nuts.
Got me some Hexe gear (Bitcrusher III and Revolver II) because I was getting into layering sounds and textures in a non-traditional loop type of way influenced by some things I wanted to do at that time and still so.
And well, here I am now with a collection of about 50 effects pedals.

Asked for and received a DOD DFX9 Digital Delay and FX75-B Stereo Flanger for Christmas sometime in the early 90s.

But then you guys, like a couple years later I was having troubles with my amp making too much noise. Primarily because I was banging it down stairwells and in the trunks of bandmates' cars all the time. Anyway, instead of taking it to get it serviced, and after careful consideration of a Musician's Friend catalog, I hit up Santa again and got a Boss NS-2 Noise Suppressor. Which didn't do anything to help my problem.

I came to become a pedal junkie much later in life. Had several MFX units, but working at Best Buy Musical Instrument Dept, they began putting pedals on sale in anticipation of closing the dept. I saw the NYC Big Muff Pi v9 for $39 and thought "what the heck" and when I took it home.. HOLY SWEET MOTHER OF ALL THAT IS HOLY!!! WHAT GLORIOUS TONE!!!! After than I was buying them frantically. Anything Best Buy put on clearance I purchased. I also ordered some with my employee discount and VIOLA! I now have probably 30+ pedals

A Zoom 505. Truly awful sounding pedal. Foolishly, I let its terrible distortion patches convince me that all pedal distortion must be bad, so I embarked on a ridiculous and expensive amp quest to try to get sounds only a teenager could want. I could have saved myself a lot of grief if I had just bought, like, any other halfway decent dirt.

My second pedal was a BF-2, which I loved despite every guitarist I talked to at the time spitting on it. I traded it for a 535q, but I would do the opposite now in a second.

I think my first pedal was "The Rat" v2 (1981-83). I think I got it at yard sale for $10 or so.

1: aria fl-10 flanger ~ $35
2: dod dfx94 ~$60

I wasn't working at the time so spending even 50 bucks on a pedal was a huge deal for me.

First was a Dunlop Crybaby that I still have, I think a Rev. F, the last one without buffers. Second was a Boss CH-1, one of the first run, with real BBD circuit. Third was an Ibanez Soundtank TS-5. I got my big box Vintage Rat and Morley PVO together, but I don't remember if that was before or after I got the Boss Limiter pedal (LM-2?)--I was having a bad time wanting my Bandmater Reverb to be really wet but completely overloading the pan and the limiter helped, though some basic mods to the amp probably would have been the simpler fix. After that, it was RE-201 Space Echo and MXR Omni.

Have all but the Boss pedals still. I lent out the chorus to a friend I lost touch with and my brother never explained what happened to the limiter or my Hiwatt . . .

Oh fuck, I forgot that one of my high school friends' dads owned a guitar shop and she sold me a couple pedals for real cheap. Think I got a Crybaby for $20 and a Walco Sound-Go-Round for maybe $10.

A friend in high school traded me a Tube Screamer for a couple records. I remember liking my younger brother's Aria Metal something way better on bass. He'd use his practice amp to preamp one channel of my Fender, and I'd use the Aria into the other. The screamer sat in the box.

Traded the Tube Screamer for an original EHX Graphic Fuzz that I still have. Best pedal trade I've ever made. 2nd pedal was an EHX Little Big Muff. Just sold it after many years. Sounded like 80's hardcore every time I plugged it in.

mine was a DOD FX55c Supra Distortion that i won on ebay. i liked it for the pop punk-ish stuff i was doing at the time. looking back, i'm sure that i actually sounded awful. sometimes i think about getting another to see what i'd think of it now.
then i got a black russian Big Muff and a Rat shortly after that.

First was a First Act distortion that I was given. Back when I still had my Peavey TNT100, I was able to do a pretty good job of Kyuss-y styled tones with the tone at like 4-5 and dirt at 5. I still use it for boosting my muff into chaotic, noisy, easiest feedback ever territory. :idk:
