He is open to suggestions for further updates on the BIII so I will be sending him my ideas. I don't expect results necessarily, but I have to try to do something other than bitch on forums.
My problem is that I basically want one looping pedal to rule them all. It doesn't really exist. The optimistic view is probably looking at a number of individual pedals and use their strengths. I am admittedly stubborn and often pessimistic.
I have chosen to not get a Timeline, more than I want to spend for just the looper and the delays do not entice me (I have owned one too). So I may pick up another used DL4 from a friend or go with the BIII and Sidecar.
Here's Mike's response to my message (it has many of your ideas). His writing is in bold.
I spoke with you a couple of weeks ago about the Rang III powering a splitter via MIDI phantom power. Still
working on that issue, and I'll let you know how it goes, but I have another concern:
Do you think that there's potential for software updates that incorporate different loop functions? Things
like loop slicing, or continuous varispeed control, replace, scatter, glitch,
loop degradation, an insert function, granular processing, randomization of speed and direction...
The only one of these we currently support is "replace". If Decay Rate is set to max, then stacking will completely replace material in a loop.
We probably won't add the others on your list though I can see that it would be fun to mess with them.
I still think you guys have the best product on the market. Still, there's a lot of buzz about people using
software loopers. Though I don't care for those, there are functions that--if incorporated--would make the
Boomerang that much more indispensable in the world of hardware.
We're currently working on a function that drops the pitch of a loop one octave without altering the tempo - not an easy task. It's possible that moving a loop to other pitches without altering tempo MAY come out of that research.
Following that we may begin to add remote MIDI control.
You might already be thinking of this; forgive me is this is presumptuous. I'd love to see this stuff
implemented, and I know there are many others thinking along those lines. I'm happy to do some digging, and to
post up a number of threads on the forums for your perusal. Or to be in touch with the community, and to see
if there's any support for this stuff. Just curious to know if it's even possible.
O
ne of the primary problems we have with adding features is the limited interface of the III. While there are a lot of controls, they all do 1 or 2 things already, and there is no text display.
Thanks for taking the time to write.

I want a super looper, too. The Rang is the closest thing we have, I think, particularly if you want to sync it to other stuff (via MIDI). I'm adopting the same strategy that you mentioned--looping, plus other weird stuff to mess up the loops. It's pretty fun. Really, I have 95% of the stuff I could ever want, and I'm obsessing over the final 5%. But I'm stuck at work, and this is more fun than other things I could/should be doing.
