johnnyC from Anarchy Audio makes a good HM-2 from what I've heard. I have a few of his pedals on my board and he does good work. He is also a great dude to deal with. Check him out in the Shark Tank.grindonomicon wrote:Maxxed out swedish chainsaw style, it's a fun ride.WeHuntKings wrote:I've had an hm2 4 separate times. I loved it every time, but I could never really get it to do what I wanted. I think if I had one now, I'd just let it take me for a ride instead...
I'd like to try the Abominable one, or more the Dunwich... In a custom etched box.
The rackmount or a lucky Arion Metal Master is more my budget.

Re: Boss HM-2 Appreciation thread
I've been thinking about an HM-2.
I mean, I'm late to the party on the Rat and on the Muff....may as well see what this other dirt box is about.
Thinking either trying to find one Craigslist or see about a clone, but what clone rawks the ballsest?

Going to be honest - go with a stock one to start. If you don't like that, you're out cheap and flip it for what you sold it.
If you like it, figure out what you like more..and go down that rabbit hole.

I guess that's smart enough. Not as much flair as I was hoping to get, but better than being told "its not a HM-2 unless its a X"rfurtkamp wrote:Going to be honest - go with a stock one to start. If you don't like that, you're out cheap and flip it for what you sold it.

I was kinda dreading looking, knowing that you are vocal about that Boss Rackmount preamp.
I had a rack once. Not nearly as fun as luvboxes in my simple mind.

The HM2 is a grand piece on its own. The rackmount is what it is, and I don't mind having seven dials on the HM-2 from hell on that channel!
It'll do just fine though.
Get the cheapest, most beat up one you can find and tell people you played with Slayer.

Hahaha...I'll need to get hella faster and write heavier if anyone is going to believe that in the least, but its a fun lie to tell myself, like the "mystery" neck pickup I have in a dean where the cover is beat to shit and burned and scarred....rfurtkamp wrote: Get the cheapest, most beat up one you can find and tell people you played with Slayer.

It's actually simpler than it appears. Japanese children can do it!The_Active_Conundrum wrote: Hahaha...I'll need to get hella faster and write heavier if anyone is going to believe that in the least, but its a fun lie to tell myself, like the "mystery" neck pickup I have in a dean where the cover is beat to shit and burned and scarred....

Rocksmith even has it fairly correct, I fired it up the last time I was in the retro metal mood and can still get 70-80% after all these years of not being Mr. Metal.

But that's Japanese children.
They can do anything.

I have a HM-2; I use it when I want no gain OD or a muffy distortion with better EQ. I have never found a use for the maxxed out Swedish chainsaw setting.

Well, my death metal cover band, Massive Killing Capacity, uses it on 111% of our songs.Pepe wrote:Same here. I don't like that sound at all.WayToHip wrote:I have never found a use for the maxxed out Swedish chainsaw setting.
(You know it's there. Waiting. Lurking.)
