Because of the heat, do these need to stand on their side? Or can they be mounted to a board? Just wondering...they look awesome!

Mine is going on my pedalboard no matter what. It'll be facing up, but I'm placing it only half way on a slat, so some of the back will be exposed to vent the heat.
My Spectrum is already in the mail (bought one of the ones Ryan used in the pics), and I have the wiring all ready to go! It was VERY important to me the Spectrum be in the chain after the tremolo (for obvious reasons).
Pedalboard won't be complete though until I get the new Cosmi. Then I will pollute this forum with pedalboard pics!

I'm considering having it first in line. I use distortion like 90% of the time I play and I wonder if the additional harmonic content and compression from the fuzz will make it more boring to look at. Ryan??

Thanks buddy! I love the blue too, they're the most vivid and electric looking of the bar graphs, they look sweet!

I got the new Cosmi boxes yesterday and they look badass, I'll do pics and info on them soon!

Thanks for checking it out Willy and don't be stressed about the time frame if you're interested in one.. time stands still for my ILF buddies, don't worry about it!

I don't think it'll be a big deal.. they get the hottest when their displays are being driven too fully and the guitar signal doesn't really light them up like a Spotify signal, modern music is so compressed and loud that it can make all the bars stay fully lit most of the time if the little knob is up too much.. then it gets hot. I think you'll be fine on a pedal board though... and if it does seem too warm I'd just elevate it a bit with some rubber feets on the back. If you give the heat holes a little room it'll be fine. See how it goes though, it's ok if it's a little warm anyway.

Well buddy, it's totally gonna be a personal opinion kinda thing.. I personally like the display to be full and active so I like the additional harmonic content, lights up more bars etc.. I also think Tim is onto something there, it looks cool when the analyzer responds to effects like tremolo and delay and modulation, it animates it interestingly.
Thanks again for checking it out, guys, and thank you very much to the pre-orderers! I'm gonna order the pcbs today!

too many awesome choices!!! i wish i could order every color!
i really like the blue but the white is sweet! the red and green look badass too! the red/orange/yellow/orange/red on the first picture of the the first post is the old school bar graph? that is also flipping rad! the rainbow option interests me but also scares me. each individual bar would be a different color unlike the old school where each bar has three different colors, correct?
the led that lights up the back, have you experimented with a different color back vs the bars on the front? blue bars and a red back light might look really neat!

im sending the email but i still need to figure out what color i want.

Hey Darren, nice to see you 'round! Great questions buddy and great idea there.. order every colour.. I like the way you think! *big smile*
First off, every SA looks sweet and I don't think you can make a wrong colour choice, they're all cool! You got it right, the old school bars have 3 colours in them, they go red/yellow/green/yellow/red from top to bottom. They're a little dimmer and laid back looking than the other colours but none are too bright, they just look extra bright in pics since I suck at taking pics and don't know how to do it right.
I haven't put different colour LEDs in the backs vs the fronts but that's totally fine, you can do anything you want dude! You can have any colours you want for the bar graphs in front and any colour LED lighting up the back plate, it's totally up to you, I don't mind if you pick 'em all out individually.
I've got enough bar graphs coming to make rainbow analyzers with 7 different bar graphs: red, orange, yellow, yellow-green, green, blue, white, and I think they're gonna look really sweet!
You guys pondering the pre-order now don't have to decide on your colours right now either, I've got enough bar graphs coming to cover everybody. If you wanna wait and see what a rainbow analyzer looks like that's totally fine, won't be much longer to wait either..
I ordered the pcbs a couple days ago and they just take 2-3 weeks and all the bar graphs should arrive by then too, so I'll be able to show more analyzer pics soon and also get your orders done soon too, shouldn't be a 4-6 week wait, more like a 3-4 week wait.
Thanks again for checking it out and for pre-ordering, much appreciated!

Here's a video in darkness but it kinda makes them look worse.. the darkness makes them look way brighter than they really look. I'm not smart enough with cameras and/or my phone camera doesn't have the right features to make them look normal.. it can't focus on them properly, it can't get the colours exactly right, and it can't get their light intensity right.
https://instagram.com/p/wxbEVhtUr3/?taken-by=drscientistsoundsJust trust me.. they look fantastic in person, very easy on the eyeballs, and very enriching to your quality of life and good well being.
A buddy of mine was on a quest to find purple bar graph LEDs and he scoured the internet but hasn't found any. I scoured pretty hard too and couldn't find any either. He did find enough colours to make a rainbow with 7 different colours and then decided on having a purple LED for the back-plate. Should look pretty sweet and I'll show pics of it soon as I can! 2ish weeks until the pcbs arrive!

i think that video looks good! i know these will look awesome in person and im totally not worried about that but i am insane. you are knowing tom daltons pain right now!

was that done before the back plate? i am wondering about the ambiance of the back plate if this is on top of an amp and the back plate is lighting a poster or something....

im sure it will be awesome and you probably do this with several of them all the time!

That's pre back-plate, no light at all in the back, bare aluminum box, and the SA is sitting on a cardboard box in front of a speaker. The back-plates don't really give off much light, they're a diffused 3mm LED and they stick through the back plate right in the middle and light up its edges by nature of diffusion or diffraction or something like that within the acrylic. They don't really light up the surroundings at all, just a small glow for the SA itself.
Why don't you pop over this weekend and take a look in person? Bring a pizza!
