They all work this way, how would you imagine they would work??? Headphones or through your amp or another amp or a mixer and speakers or whatever...

When I was young I had a cheap Casio keyboard with a beat generator.
I has some speaker and it was loud enough to practice with.

Geez, just picked up an MC 303 in Japan for $40. Seems to be the going rate over there. MC505s go for around $150. I hadn't mess with one other than my friends years ago, so I thought, why not. haha. Can't beat $40

Sounds great routing drums through effects without a guitar input. But an ass pain to program beats without a PC editor.

I actually miss mine. Every once in a while I check prices but never bite. I don't know what I miss about it but I remember having fun just programming it and trying stuff. And just letting it run on its own and doing nothing.

My best friend has a Rhythm Wolf. I've played with it a lot and I only give out a 2.5/5 stars. The sound shaping possibilities are limited, and the tuning of the bass synth is way off.
He also just got a PO-12 in the mail after about a million years of waiting. That thing is amazing. It sounds so full and clear.
The punch-in effects are top notch. I can't believe how easy it is to create awesome patterns and then in 2 seconds you can make it sound totally different and mind-blowingly glitched out and awesome. You can easily string together multiple patterns too, for longer, evolving beat sequences. I want the PO-12 now, and I guess have to get one of the synth ones too. I can't imagine using that interface for a glitched out synth.
The work flow is so fast, and the learning curve is not bad at all. 5/5 stars for sure.
