Absolutely no regrets, but sometimes I do wish I still had that giant hulking, dead cold sounding machine so I can put all of the effects at full blast.

Actually would LOVE to get one of these. If I'm not mistaken that monster has a built in effects loop. My first MFX which I still use is the desktop version and have found it very handy for recording since I don't have the facilities to record an amp at volume.
.
I also have a POD X3 and a M13. Don't use the X3 much, but love the M13. To me the bane of MFX units is complexity, takes too long to do anything, which is why I love my Tonelab. Simple enough for me, as is the M13.

Yeah, they're easy enough to programme but the compact Zoom pedals probably aren't ideal if you need to change patches frequently in a live context.

I always try to keep at least one multi on hand
love the boss ME stuff cause it usually has a pedalboard mode
Currently have a zoom G10n
it is fricking cool
lots of options
plus if I ever say "this song would sound cool with a ring mod" I can find out without buying one.
The headphone out options on a multi are pretty cool as well

How are you using individual effects? Do you have to just edit them out of the presets or?

Yea. every multi I've ever seen you can edit effects out of presets.

I am just editing pre-sets down to just the effect I want
works pretty well and on the zoom is pretty quick
the one major editing function i did was to change the switching mode so now it can scroll without switching
other benefit of a multi effect is the tuners are generally pretty good

I have a POD HD but I gotta say RFK is really selling the GT-001 to me. The POD is not even close to as flexible routingwise.
How is the quality of the amp models on it?

They were the first that passed the Turing test for me - at one point while recording in cans, I reached over (4x12 is to the left of the desk) to feel SPL as I wasn't sure it was too loud.
Then I remembered the amp wasn't on at the time.
I have spot-on emulation of every amp I actually have, the Deluxe is a *little* more sparkly in the room presence wise at certain reverb settings but recorded, can't tell and it often sounds better.
Like any of the amp modelling out there though (or any of the RIs of anything, or even individual amps), no two sound exactly the same that they base the models on, but here you've got the luxury of doing "Fake Orange #1" and "Fake Orange #2" to get a better master fake Orange (sort of like how I often layer two sets of PCM synths of similar construciton but not identical to make a better piano or whatever.

Oh shoot I think I remember you mentioning that in another thread, sorry. Very cool. I think the POD's amps are fantastic, but I hate having to do a bunch of patching workarounds to reamp with it. Is there a complete list of effects and models somewhere that you know of? I've been Googling around but can't seem to find one, even in the manual.

Manual has everything if I recall, it's the size of a phone book if you want that much detail.
Typical Roland detail, and amps customizable to a point that it's not just what it ships with - can do a lot more than just mix and match random cabs etc.
Individual mics, distance, various other settings.

So here's my thing. I have plenty of dirt and amps I love and reverb and delay, I just want a multi for modulation only. For me it wouldn't be any bigger than the boss double pedals like the looper and space echo. I don't use much modulation and it definitely doesn't justify a separate pedal for each tone I want to use for 20 seconds here and there. Seems like the zoom stuff might win in this instance?

Zoom stuff wins for me anyway
I think it is easier to deal with than an M5, draws less power too
M5 didn't like a joyo power supply at all
the modulation is great, and you can layer in stupid orders to your hearts content

Cool. Right now I really have no need, but I want to have a need haha. If only I could find a consistent drummer!

Dude, the Zoom has drums in it.
50 bucks on amazon
you can't feed and store a real drummer for that

Feral Drummers, no food or housing costs, but you have to make sure they are let out side as they're not housebroken.
