I read that before about the stock speakers in those chinese vox amps...But I'm clueless when it comes to tubes, plus it's not the cheapest upgrade...So I kinda wanted to prospone it untilll the stock tubes are worn or broken...Which at this rate will take about 10 years
So anything in particular you'd recommend?
Got to say though...I mensioned before that I kinda decided on the AC15C2 because of the specs/price ratio...
But if it needs another $400 for new tubes and speakers to make it really sing, I may be better off looking for another amp that sounds great stock
Decisions decisions...

Oh, wait, so yours is a 2x12" combo with Celestion Greenbacks?
I didn't know about that particular model.
Maybe try a AC15 1x12" with Alnico Blue next to it to see how you feel about it?
You're in the EU right?
If you're in the US I'd recommend you to take a look at the Valvetech Hayseed 15, it's old style Matchless / Bad Cat quality for a much better price.

I settled on Tung-Sole el-84s and Telefunken 12ax7s. Check out audiotubes.com for real accurate subjective descriptors of the various brands of nos tubes...will tell you what to expect. Plus he is great to deal with and often has off branded tubes for a discount...they are the same fantastic tubes but with a different branding on them. Save yourself a lot of money this way. I've spent thousands of dollars with this guy and nothing but great experiences. It's amazing how much of a difference a nice set of tubes can make, you really can dial in a tone you're after. Those stock sino tubes are a joke.

Yep, it's the AC15 with the two greenbacks. Which makes a helluva lot of sense to me, since the two 12" speakers move enough air to sound big when I want to, but unlike most 2x12 combos it's not too powerfull to use with the master volume at 12 o'clock. And at home, it needs just a little bit of attenuation to sound decent and not piss off the neighbours.
I am indeed in the EU though, so that Valvetech Hayseed doesn't seem like an affordable option
