I dont really NEED to sell anything Im just aware of how much I have and how little I actually NEED
The Lovetone stuff I wouldnt sell, took me far too long to acquire and I adore it.
The Space Station has a lot of sentimental value. You can just get an XP all if you want those sounds (I have one of those, too!) but ill keep ol' yeller for ever
The FoxRox TZF is too hard to acquire again also, so that would stay. Some of the harder to get EHX too, like the MicroSynth and POG v1
Im considering getting rid of the Mobius - I only really use the chorus sounds, and I have the Cosmi. In fact I just rewired my board for the Cosmi and BitQuest in its place...
That and the HOG, as I have the POG and the Pitchfork now.
ho hum decisions decisions

to put it bluntly, you have way too many pedals and should sell at least half of them. I really don't understand why people hoard pedals. I mean pedals are cool, but hoarding pedals is just excessive and a waste of space, time and money. Even if you can afford to keep them around, that doesn't mean it's necessary or a good use of your time.
like people who have multiple houses and cars, whats the point? status symbol? more money than you know what to do with? I'm not trying to grump you out or anything, that's just how I see it. I don't think I would ever own even close to that many pedals unless I was a full time studio musician or something. even then I bet I wouldn't own that many

good perspective and I respect and value your opinion
not grumped at all. If it wasnt for UG I might feel differently though; he sets the ILF benchmark for "too many pedals"

but yeah I think UG has a unique situation. from what I understand, his health problems keep him at the house most of the time, so he definitely gets a lot of use out of his insane stash.

I dunno if you've got "too many" pedals. It seems to be your hobby, and I've seen people spend much more on less "active" hobbies (stamp collecting, fancy bicycles, fucking pokemen). That shouldn't be an excuse to hoard, just trying to put things in a perspective. The way I see it, there's a difference between pedals owned to get your sound and just play, and pedals owned because of interest in circuits and unique sounds. While some of us are only in the former camp, you seem to fit both of these categories.
That being said, I still think you could sell some of those if you feel the need. Keep the ones you use to get your toan and the ones with sentimental value/the ones you have a great interest in. Sell everything else.

Ehh I disagree like A LOT with your rationale. People collect things because that is their hobby. His collection is not even close to hoarding. I mean have you met or seen a hoarder? Not even close. I've collected things for years and am very tidy and take care of things. Not typical hoarding mentality.
Opinions are very subjective whether we want them to be or not, but he did ask. So you're entitled to yours.
I think it's cool Ian has a good collection and is trying to make a rational decision.
I think it's a silly thought process that "you have too much".

Any TV you buy will be worth a quarter of what you pay for it or less in three years.
The pedals won't depreciate nearly as much.
And it's a TV.
Stop watching and play that guitars.

Even still, TV depreciates like a rock. How much do you realistically need as well?
Today's half-decent 40-42" sets are the price of half the individual pedals on your board!

yeah im not looking to go mental. The reason I want a new TV is that the place we are (hopefully) buying has a specific recessed wall mount for a slim TV, and my current TV wont fit.
If it would, Id just use the one I had.

I never owned a TV... why would you need one?
In my case, I just keep the pedal that I use.

But for real "you have too many pedals" here is the "go throw up more and maybe run five miles, you useless fucking fatass" of plus sized model forums (which I assume exist).
