I don't hate rollerblading, I just don't think it looks very cool. I feel the same way about freestyle skiing and ironic throwbacks to porn moustaches from the 80's -- which, not coincidentally(?), both remind me of rollerblading.

Anyway. MOAR VIDS

D.o.S.: That's fine. People like different things. I didn't mean to put you in the "old skateboarding geezer" category, I was just ranting.

Geeze that makes me feel old and I'm only 26!

He had long hair, give no fucks attitude, and skated to motorhead I believe. His part starts with him doing a big rail in a straight jacket. Video was called Fruitboots/booter/booting and had Zebra Stripe gum colors going on.

He's thinking of Carlos Pianowski in Fruitbooter. Not the most stylish dude around, but he's insane. No doubt.

Still, Fridolin Eelbo probably still wins the biggest balls challenge.

Futuresailors: Did you know of Alex Broskow? That's pretty cool. I never hear of people who know the name pro rollerbladers.

Ahhh I was thinking more recent. And Broskow was in a straight jacket in his opening in Straight Jacket...
futuresailors rollerbladed!
Still have a pair under my bed here in NYC and and another at my mom's house in case the mood ever strikes.

For sure. That was a great section too! Haha, that's cool. I haven't been rolling much for the last 6 months because the nail on my big toe went and quit on me after a failed gap attempt. It's almost healed now though, so I should be good for the upcoming season. I'd love to skate NYC. Almost went to the Billy O'neill/NYC Invitational four-five years ago, but a family member got sick so I stayed home.

Since I've already gone way off track in this thread; you didn't use to hang on the be-mag msgboard by any chance, did you?

Man, I haven't really skated in like 7 years or something... you were going to go to compete or watch?
 Bemag and amall...no idea what my username was though.

I'd probably end up watching. I'm not one for big crowds. Fucking Amall forum. Never touched that, but I lurked whenever be-mag was down. When I quit be-mag a few years ago I had something like 20,000 posts. :animal:

I also skated in the 70s. I quit when I was 11. I'm 47, and I started skating longboards a three years ago, and I skate every day. I do Downhill when I can. I've gone 40, skated Maryhill in Washington State, etc . It's a blast! Blows all that geriatric crap right outta your mind. And compared to music, you don't need an audience!

Oh, and I sat on the couch for 20 years before starting. Preserving my body for later.

i've had a good long hiatus as well (about 10 years total)...gonna be 40 soon...so thinking of getting back into it ASAP, so i'm ok at it by the time my kid starts skating too. My plan is to just skate bowls...gonna try and live near Bondi (in Sydney) and skate the bowl in the early mornings when no-one is there. No tricks, just finding cool lines and grinding and maybe some rail slides (I will have rails on my board!)...my goal is to be able to do a stylish layback just like my hereo Hosoi!

Yeah I'm the same age as you -- I just snowboard ride with a pretty massive/wide ranging crew. And all the old dudes who skate are, without fail, way better than me at skating.
