I'm sure they do, but in theory, shouldn't those Fanes dominate that combination? Not that that's necessary a bad thing, I'm just saying...
I was always told that unless the DBL ratings of your speakers are within 2db of each other, one speaker will sound slightly louder than the other. Again, not that that has to be a big deal, and I'm sure the '2db' rule should be taken with a grain of salt...

Depending on the particular speakers, a difference of 40Watt can easily translate to a 3db SLP difference. Afaik, it's gonna be damn hard for the human ear to notice a 3db difference, right? :idk:

Not at all. The Fanes are 101 db, and the G12H(55)'s are 100 db, plus they sound different enough that they don't step on each others toes too much, so to speak.

It sounded way more like a slightly warmer G12M Greenback than it did like my G12H(55)'s. Don't get me wrong, it was a great sounding speaker, but it didn't have the bold thick tone of the original or the faster transient response and bigger voice of the H magnet type Celestion speaker. Makes sense since the Weber was a 97 db sensitivity speaker, and the real deal G12H is a 100 db speaker.

On the other hand one guy who frequents GAB and also used to hang on HCAF swears by his Weber ceramic AXA12 clones and says they're some of the best speakers he's had, but I haven't compared them. I know my experience with the 123055 turned me off from the idea of getting a pair of alnico Michigans to sate my SRO jones.

I really liked the WGS speakers I've had too, which included a pair of Vet 30's and an ET65. The ET65 and Vet 30 combo in particular sounded awesome together. It was a very full & bold pairing with a balanced sound that worked for everything I threw at it. The lows weren't HUGE, but very much there and ballsy, and keep in mind my reference for HUGE is EVM12L's.

I got rid of them since in the end I wanted all higher efficiency speakers for my set up since it makes it easier for mixing and matching when speaker pairing, and truth be told in general I tend to prefer the tones of higher efficiency speakers. They tend to be bolder, faster, more dynamic & 3d to my ears. Sound seems to jump out the speakers more if that makes sense. Like the difference between G12T-75's and G12H(75)'s.

When it comes to weber clones I have 2 kinds the 65 and the michigan 15's. I absolutely love the sound of them paired for the rig I use them in, but I've never had the originals to compare to. So I can't go on faithfulness of recreation just that they do sound phenomenal in my rig. I've also owned the WGS ET65's as well, so I can compare the weber vs the WGS, which are similar with the WGS being slightly brighter and faster responding, while the weber is warmer and fuller. The 15" Michigans are bad ass for filling out tone but IMO aren't the greatest standalone speakers, they need to be paired with a 12 to truly shine. Maybe going with all Michigans in this cab is a possibility as they are dark enough and handle enough watts to accomplish what I want.

Oh and trying to compare anything to the low end of a EVM12L is pointless, nothing guitar oriented can touch em. Which is why I like the Eminence Delta line as they are all pretty much clones of the 12L with slight modifications.

Has anyone tried a mix of the WGS Liberator and British Lead?
