I only know Whirr cause of Donny's hilariousness on their wall. Still never got around to actually listening to them cause I couldn't take them seriously after reading all of their posts. I'll echo that it definitely hurts PR to act like that on social media.

as I think I already said in this thread, I'd back their trolling a hell of a lot more if they backed it up with records that weren't boring as fuck.

To me, trying to get a rise out of people for your own entertainment doesn't make any sense, especially when you're in a position to promote yourself.
Personally, the juvenile lashing out (especially if just to satisfy themselves) has soured me on them as a whole, regardless of the music.
Yeah apart from that the whole fake edgy, offensive shtick is fucking boring imo

I think Whirr has some good songs and some really boring ones. I saw them live a few years ago before I had ever really heard any shoegaze bands and I was into it. it was a good show.
their online presence is a turn off to me. nothing they say really offends me, it's obvious to me that they're trying to be as immature as possible to get a rise out of people. or maybe any press is good press to them. either way I don't think anything they say is that funny and it comes off as lame to me. I've encountered plenty of people who troll in this way, I find it to be a low technique of an already low form of humor.

Yeah, I have to admit, I've dug their albums even though they can be fairly samey... but it's a samey that I like! The online shit-talking, though, that bugs me, even if it's a joke.

I saw one of their members almost get pasted by a semi outside of a Russian Circle/Chelsea Wolfe/Deafheaven gig in Los angeles.

^Which would've vaunted them to the second most interesting act on the bill for the evening's entertainment.
