I'm sort of the anti-doom though, I tune to standard and make hell-slamming noises with a literal mountain of cheap stuff!

That sounds awesome to me. I've always wanted to see your full setup (and maybe I have in the past and just forgot)because it sounds incredible.

I'm excited for this but I feel like a lot of people are going to recognize my board this year
Not really sure where I sit with demos but I said fuck categories. Although the small, med, big categories would work a lot better than last years

My board is going to look exactly the same as last year, and I came in basically dead last then, so I think I'll probably sit this one out

Anyone who thinks this is about the competition instead of just an excuse to post pedal porn might want to re-evaluate.

I voted for yours last year!

Number of pedals is a classic. After MaryKellys post I was thinking maybe do a value division. It might be hard to be exact about this, especially if you use rare or vintage stuff, but just a rough estimate would be sufficient. I would not have a clue where to set the margin though. Like 800$?
With number of pedals 8 seems to be a good choice, that's about the separation between normal and large. Maybe go <5, 5-8, >8. Or even <5, 5-8, 9-11, <11
Some people will probably submit boards they have built for the occasion, so could you, UG.
Asking people to submit by value probably wont work because there is always the guy who scored a Klon for $99 or a Model T for $250 or other insane stuff like that. Its better to go with practical guidelines like number of pedals or size of board. Maybe a genre-based set of categories could be cool?

Yep! Nobody should be shy because they think they won't win (I never do), I love seeing what everyone's rockin all collected together.

Might? I'm sure you can throw something spectacular together. You and UG could have a lovetone-off.
Phanta's <5, 5-8, 8+ categories sound good to me. I agree that value could get a bit nebulous, though I also like the idea of a "budget" category that's just a soft rule of don't be a dick about the concept.

You can also have the organizer curate the entries. If someone tries to enter the budget category and they have a $300 pedal on their board the organizer can just shuttle that entry over to whatever size it fits in. The HC budget category always seemed to be an "all cheap pedals" thing. Danos, DOD, etc...

BILF is cool!
I dunno about all the serious talk, ofcourse I understand things have to be arranged and all that Jazz but this is ILF, it's pretty relaxed, I wouldn't worry about it all too much really.
People seemed to enjoy all kinds of boards, last year was mostly just a bunch of peeps exchanging cool boards and nice comments, very enjoyable.
Just my 2 cents.

Rfurt, we're all about the mountain of cheap shit over in the DR. I think you'd be surprised as to how many bands that would be junked into the whole "doom" end of town aren't tuned stupid low as well.
I know AA wanted a rig off this coming year, I think some of the other guys would be keen as well.
It would definitely involve a few more regulations than the boards though.
D.o.S is right. This is all about poonography. Cheap and nasty, high end and classy. It's all for fapping in the end.

It's out of date already, pulled the ART SGE and replaced with Lexicon Vortex, and added a Godbox Test Pattern from Hell.
