Honestly, Syl, Tristan's pretty much right. The Cleanness is a little too clean for me, but this is exactly what I use pedals at the end of my chain to do. Whether it's a Phat Phuk or other boost, Klon style circuit, parametric EQ, etc. etc. etc.

I've been saying I LOVE COMPRESSORS forever!! I doubt there is one pedalboard pic without my dyna comp script clone.
I am always buying new fuzzes and delays but I have never even considered another compressor. I'd feel like I was having an affair

That was going to be my recommendation, too, but he never said whether or not filers counted.

Both videos posted .. the Deep Six and the PDF sound GREAT
kinda agree about the Compressors. Barber and Diamond have been Great for me. they both have a Blend Knob.
Blend knob on compressors =
You gotta watch how "Dynamic" you play though.
if you like to play light handed - to hard handed ..
and roll back volumes/ tones ..
some comps settings can KILL that. just sayin'.

I always keep a deep and slow vibrato on at the end of my chain and it isn't really a tone shaper but is definitely a sound shaper and is crucial to make it all sound as I like

Yeah the original Maestro MPF-1 that was based on is the shit. It's almost always in my chain.
Also just received and tested the penny pedals deluxe radio is mighty fine too.

Mmmm.. that resonance switch...
That to me is what makes this pedal so great

Put your comp after the dynamic fuzz/od whatever. It's great for evening out volume differences that occur when you use dynamics to control how much your signal clips.

I had to take my cs-3 off my board due to real estate probs. I used to have it on constantly, but the stuff I play lately doesn't need compression as much as it needs the other pedlols on my board.
I'm upgrading to a bigger board though, and I might be on the lookout for a fresh compressor.
So sorry if I'm sorta hijacking the thread, but maybe its relevant to the OP's interests as well:
What are some other compact compressor pedals that have about the same amount of controls as the cs-3? I guess the lack of some sort of control on that Walrus comp may not be a real issue, but it'd definately be great to hear about some more options to look for on the used market. Smallish and tweakable compressor pedals arent too easy to find imo, at least not without going into the pricey keely/analogman league...:s

I use the MXR Bass Comp right now, which has a ton of control, and the LED signal indicator is fucking crazy useful.
The previous comp I used was the Philosopher's Stone which is the best for doing crazy long sustain and it has a blend as well.

I found the perfect comp a few months ago, the Effectrode PC2A. Super colorful yet not too much. Pricey but hey, it's always on and it actually works great with all my guitars and the VI as well.
