Really the arguement was 'it's like dressing up for church, why wouldn't we want to spend all this money to give the best we can?' Which, to me, is beside the point. It's not about how much stuff costs, it's about the songs themselves.

Didn't that J guy flip over the money collectors tables and say something about worshiping God and money???

I've installed sound systems in some Mega Churches and they don't skimp...
But, I am also a Christian who is extremely aggravated by the "worship" gear scene.
I know I'm probably coming off as a smarmy ass with this question, with a homosexual leather and studs wearing METAL GOD in my avatar, but I'm genuinely curious. I don't think I'd even heard of it until I got an instagram. I will look at these links later when I'm not at work. I guess I'm just trying to imagine the reception of a bunch of 80 year old ladies when a post rock band comes out and revs the house up.

Are there any Buddha rock bands? I'd be into hearing that. I feel like they'd all be like Om or CODONA or some shit. That I could get into.

Live bands aren't in every church. I came from a different church that had a traditional choir and sang only hymns, which had an older congregation.
The oldest members of the church I am at now are late 50's/early 60's and everyone is really receptive. From what I understand, the church was started and always has been a church with a live band.
I'm no expert and I've only visited a few other churches that have had bands that have played to be able to really weigh in on mega churches and the demographics of their congregations to know how they work and how they are similar/different from our band.

We play every weekend until the last weekend of the month, and then two of the older members (husband and wife duo) have an acoustic bluegrass type thing they do on that last weekend. Like old Americana type stuff. The husband kind of sounds like Johnny Cash which is awesome

No worries, man!
I understand how it can be a completely foreign concept, and take no offense discussing it with people who don't exclusively want to talk shit.
I know of plenty of churches that have a traditional service, with choir and hymns, and then a separate contemporary service, with full electric band.

Watch that Source Family Doc... :thumb:

Also there has been a band in Austin for years that makes music for their cause, check Zendik Farm...

I'm sure I could cultivate a nice Hare Krishna band in town to make some Power Crystals...

Isn't all music ultimately inherently Spiritual???

This is obviously a representation of the physical body seeking spiritual fulfillment in connecting with another body.

That's an ode to our Pagan ancestry...

You know the familiar image of the heart <3 is what we have ingrained in our sub conscience from when we were apes and we only banged from behind... When you are procreating and you look down from behind that's the image you see...

Music is all about our most primal instincts, one of which is God and a higher power...
