I actually bought and enjoyed Limp Bizkit's 3 Dolla Bill Yall as a young lad. Just thinking about it, brings up feelings of shame and regret. The only band I still listen too from that scene are Deftones, can't get down with the new korn-step.

I lived through nu-metal as well. Dark days.

The worst thing I'll cop to is One Minute Silence. A band that wanted to be some unholy fusion of RATM and Tool, fronted by an Irish rapper.

aha.

I used to be way into prog rock, like Porcupine Tree, Liquid Tension Experiment, Dream Theater, Ayreon and so on. Some of the older stuff stuck, always gonna love Floyd, and bands like Yes, Camel, Mike Oldfield, King Crimson and Soft Machine kick ass. But I find alot of the music I listened to back then to be a bit cheesy nowadays.

How people listen to Dream Theater and don't find them cheesy as shit is beyond me.

Also +1000. I really liked them during anema(i know this is spelled wing but im not about to Google it.) But I saw them during the lateralus tour and it was boring. It was never the same since.

...But muh T-technicality. D:

At least that was the case for me. I would only listen to the individual parts of the song, as they are technically impressive, but once I got older and put the pieces together... yeah, the whole is lesser than the sum of its parts.

Porcupine Tree is still amazing though.

I've always enjoyed musicians who are technical, but I've never really gravitated towards a vast majority that sort of music myself. I like Porcupine Tree, and Mahavishnu 1.0, who weren't mentioned but seriously rip.

Also I have a hot water music tattoo. Haven't listened to a single thing they've done past the first four albums and happy to keep it that way.
Which one is garbage? I think both bands hold up pretty damn well.
the shape of nu metal to come does not hold up for me at all.

edit: and I mean I like some utter CRAP because I dug it when I was a teenager, and other stuff that's just as guilty of being proto nu metal. Refused I just can't stomach.

NOU however are one of the best bands ever.

I haven't listened to shape of punk for ages for that very reason.
I'm very afraid that if I hear it again it is gonna be a whole bag of "MEH".

Also, I cannot listen to the Smashing Pumpkins anymore.

I used to dig stuff like the Red Chord and Acacia Strain as well, and its not that I hate them now, but I guess I just moved in a different direction. I have a mate that still blasts all that sort of thing though and it is a little tough to not commandeer the playlist and put Church of Misery on instead.

I dated a girl who LOVED Refused. Always bored the shit out of me. She also liked Leftover Crack. I should have known it would never last. That band fucking sucks.

I really liked the first Dropkick Murphys album (never dug the Al Barr stuff), Rancid up to And Out come The Wolves, when it came out.... I wonder how it holds up..... been at least a decade since I've heard any of that stuff....

I used to dig Bad Religion but that band has kind of always totally sucked.....
