I get the wanting to have more knobs thing, but really, the Mahoney Buzztone is amazing. I bought one for my bro, and have been playing around with it quite a bit when we hang out. You can harness loads of toanz by using the volume and tone on your guitar.
cool. so now at this crossroads.
what can cover more ground?
candy apple fuzz? bosstone? FY2? demo tape?

Yeah its great. There is an on/off switch and a dial for volume/fuzz. Brilliant.

Well you did say Swiss Army knife of fuzz. What did you expect?
Realy though it's an awesome versitile fuzz, and spunkle is a rad dude.

Man, those little guys are adorable.
It would be cool to put one inside a guitar.

heh you got me
looks interesting and would try one for sure, I like knobs and switches
I have one of his feedback loopers though
that candy apple is scratching my itch though
which the bosstone seems similar, as does the FY2.
but at opposite side of the spectrum of what the CAF can do

So rather than start a new thread, I'll just ask here. I am GASsing for just ONE MORE FUZZ (yeah right) and I'm sort of at a loss for what to get. I have a fairly versatile fuzz selection, but I want something none of my other Fuzzes can do.

I have a Mini for my trashy, starved OD, TAFM for synthy gated fuzz (I leave the gate on all the time unless I'm trying to feedback), a Buzzz for a, well, buzzy fuzz. Sounds pretty "throaty" I guess and it also does a nasty octave up. Also pretty trashy sounding. And I have Marsh Chapel being built for a big muffy fuzz.

So, do I even need another fuzz? I've been thinking about the Terminal, but I worry it'll be too similar to my Buzzz. I also want a Dungeon Master, but I wonder if it'll be too similar to some of the tones I already get.

What am I missing? What will complete my bass fuzz arsenal, for playing heavy instrumental Russian Circles/Isis/Don Cab type stuff? I didn't love the Blower Box, so I don't know if I like rat circuits. But I love Young Widows and their bassist uses a Rat Tail like all the time. I like the rumbling lows and gravelly highs that he gets, but the rat is too hissy for me. The DM seemed to be a little more suited to my needs, but I dunno.

dude totally on this search but don't have the fuzz collection you do, or many do here
and into the same type of stuff it seems, but LOVE THE BUTTHOLE SURFERS tones too :!!!:
I was wanting the terminal but the universe said NO
the Candy Apple and demo tape fuzzes are scratching my itch I think
but SO MUCH FUZZ

Prymaxevintage has the demo tape fuzz 30% off on clearance right now. I think I'm going to grab one. :excellent:

I've never owned either, but I've recently picked up a couple mid-fi pedals and really dig everything about them. They are both modulation crazy, so this will be their first fuzz for me. I don't know why I never tried the mini, but I've already gotta nice selection of fuzz face variants.

Edit: is the demo tape a fuzz face variant?

I do
I dont typically lump it in with my fuzzes, but I do use it like that sometimes. sub on, 5th down harmony, fuzz on, and then I run it into my Mini for broken synth apocalypse fuzz.

But usually I just have a clean octave down set at unity with my clean signal. A lot more tolerable for the poor guitar player that way.
