Rules of stacking dirt? Well, I am sure the first rule is "Always, ALWAYS, stack your dirt."

One rule for stacking that is always a constant: The Devi Ever OK is always a good idea.

Try using it as a thickener. Turn the shape knob almost all the way to the bass side and bump up the gain a bunch, then use the "clean blend" to blend in a healthy dose if whatever dirt you have in front of it.

The black sheep is a bee baa right? They gotta be first. Like a super fuzz or fuzz master. It's an impedance thing. Newer variants might be different.
I'm also pretty sure mudhoney didn't stack fuzz. Steve had the muff, mark had the fy6. Or vice versa.
Yesterday i put eqd terminal into bluebeard. Holy hell!
My favorite all time stack is ace tone fm2 into rams head.
I think buffer impedance is the main reason why some peds don't like being stacked.

I got a Mosrite Fuzzrite, and it seems to act really strangely when it's hooked up to other pedals.
When it's engaged, it's normal volume, but when it's disengaged, it makes everything really quiet.
Maybe I should try running it off of its own battery instead of daisy chained with a battery adapter?

I tried a battery adapter with my rams head with not very good luck. Old pedals do weird shit.

This is probably how Ill use it once I get more dirt. Right now, its Buzz - Mini - TAFM and each box is set to pretty different tones. I have a Marsh Chapel (muff) coming at some point and I'm worried that it may be too similar to how I have the TAFM. Not sure though. Luckily all my dirt is so versatile, I should be OK. I still want something crazy for bass. I had an unpleasant surprise but had to let it go for now.

I usually end up putting something with a ton of volume first in the dirt chain.
I've been going Sparkle Motion > Crimson Drive for like 6 months now. The Crimson Drive is definitely fuzz gain level with it maxed. Adding the Sparkle at unity before it gives it a bit more. But the best part is that it's so easy to crank the volume on the Sparkle with your foot that doing that gives you some superfuzz/garage fuzz type sounds. Really really cool. I'm looking into maybe getting the new Havalina from Way Huge. The few demos of the Havalina sound pretty similar to what I'm getting with the other two

Fuzz circuits that load the input/pickups go first (FuzzFace, Tonebender 1.5).
Then subsequent dirt boxes go from least clipping/compressed to most.
Sometimes I do the opposite......but in general...
open/dynamic drive stacked into compressed drive yields the most consistently usable/better sounding results.
Similarly, compressing an overdriven signal tends to yield better sounding results than overdriving a compressed signal.

Tubescreamers are compressed, but great for goosing mid-scooped Muffs due to the combination of mid hump & rolloff below 200hz.
It helps the Muff cut through without muddying up the massive bottom end. Following the Muff they can also be used to attenuate [it's] insanity, but they also shave much, if not most of the Muff's hair.
