Hahaha that's true. They killed live, when I saw them in 1998. They didn't stop playing when two crusty idiots got into a fight during their set. "hey man we fucking drove across a continent to ay here could you take that shit outside?"

Most 90's hardcore was very "of it's time". Fucking Charles Bronson is just cringe worthy. However some has aged surprisingly better than I would have thought....

1.Kool Keith, yes, not rock but did a song with Prodigy in the fucking 90's. Also Dr. Octagon. FUCK!
2. Nine Inch Nails...no need to say more.
3. Sublime. Seriously awesome shit.
4. Opeth (Orchid, Morningrise! COME ON!)
5. The Red Hot fucking Chili Peppers. This is when they were bad mother fuckers. That and the late 80's.
6. Type O Negative. I am a HUGE Type O fan. The 90's was some of their best music.
7. Stabbing Westward. Yes, I fucking loved them. Perfect emotional destruction music.
8. Kool Keith. Again! THAT'S RIGHT!!!!!
9. Tool. Some of Tool's greatest stuff came out in the 90's as well.
10. Rage Against the Machine. Can you remember the raw energy. The kick you in the nuts energy??
Fucking no to everything on this list. RHCP and RATM? No. No.

Opeth is the only thing on that list worth a damn.....

But the 90's always make me happy to think about, musically. Fuck everything else from that decade. Hah.

To each there own. It's cool. I just enjoyed the music more then.
This reminds me a lot of a long-standing discussion I have going. My best friend during those formative teen years was born in '49 and we talk about this kind of thing a lot. Except he always argues that the peak was the 60's and there'll never be another Beatles/Bob Dylan/Creedance Clearwater Revival. It really does boil down to personal taste and what you were exposed to first, though.

Even though I was born in the late 80's and by all means should be really into this millennial stuff, I'm really not. During my formative years I wasn't exposed to any new music through tv or radio. Word of mouth was how I got my music, and I'd go home, look it up online, and see if I liked it or not. As a result I don't really subscribe to any one time period as the "best" for music. It all changes except you can almost always bet the top 40 will be full of suck. Although, it kinda sucks not being able to share in the collective musical zeitgeist of any generation.

But really everyone should just listen to what they enjoy, and actively look for more good music. It'll always pay off :thumb: I do agree that new Tool isn't as good as old Tool generally.

totally. Kissitgoodbye is my soundtrack to bad days at work still, nearly fifteen years later.

And it's shit like this that's the problem! WHO CARES!?! Love what you love, what you used to love, but when you decide that's all there will ever be then there you fucking are!

And why should be looking for the new somebody? Shouldn't we just be looking for the new?

Who's the new Sonidero or the new Spaclordmother??? These are things we'll never know...

I was saying that the 90's had people just like every other decade...

We could circle jerk classic rock references all night...

Oh, I know Soni -- it's just "who's the new" was mentioned several times already and is always mentioned in any sort of cultural music trend critique bullshit.

I will never circle jerk classic rock anything.

Yea I know he's from the 80's but his best stuff is arguable from the 90's. That's why I mentioned it. Except Matthew which was from 2000.

He was in the Ultramagnetic MCs in the very late 80's. So yea, pretty close. :)

I just love the 90's. What's wrong with that?

Nothing I love 'em too but I also love other decades just as much... There is new stuff and a million ways to find it and if you check around there is a lot of 90's artists still playing and some re-uniting for new music so it'll never really go away...

I get your point but you were just fishin for silliness so I obliged as always...

Maybe Lady Gaga is not shocking enough for you but I can draw a straight line from Cooper to Manson to Gaga...

Times have changed ma son...

Nothing wrong with loving the 90s at all, lots of great music came out of that decade. Lots of great music comes out every decade, including now. Sometimes you don't even realise it 'til five years later. I recall Loveless kind of being hated by a lot of people at the time.

You better shut your mouth...

A lot of people still hate it...

I'm pretty sure there are about 100 kick ass bands on ILF you're not listening to... :poke:
