I've told my wife a few times that I never really get songs stuck in my head really, and she said THATS BECAUSE ALL YOUR MUSIC HAS NO WOOOOOOOOOORDSSSSSSSSS
She also thought Sunn O))) was NOT loud enough.
Gahd, I love her.

My girlfriend doesn't "see the point" of anything without pretty singing.
She doesn't even really like my singing in my old band, where I pretty much just had a little bit of a yell in my sing.
I wish she would be a little bit more open about music, but that's okay.
I can't expect her to have the same tastes as me, especially since I have super weird taste in music.
But at least she's cool with me liking weird things.

I'm like.... "you have a degree in art history and your favorite art is Jackson Pollock. This shit is the Jackson Pollock of sound" and she's like "whatever dude its a bunch of bleeps and people screaming.....

and really, that's what its all about. tastes don't have to match exactly, people just have to be understanding.

Not sure how it happened, but I fell wildly in love with someone who I have next to zero overlap in musical tastes with. My wife has told me since we met that all the music I listen to is sad and depressing.
She mostly likes classical, which I can be fine with quite a lot of, as it's a rather broad category, I just hate that shit when it sounds like there is a solo violinist ineffectively masterbating at the highest frequencies they can imagine…she also likes upbeat vintage pop music from the 70's and 80's which to me is a form of sonic torture.
So when we are in the same room it means we end up playing Charlie Christian or some other "neutral" music.
It is very very odd, but at the end of the day it really doesn't matter.

I've dragged my girl, (and exes) to gigs before, but I've also had to return the favour. God, I've seen some shit.
I was taken to see some pop rock group called Jacks Mannequin. Girls screamed for the singer, trying to reach out and touch him, as he made their panties wet with his distinctly average piano chops.
That was a horrible night. Especially as I missed the FOOTBALL as a result. A double whammy of shittiness. Didn't even get laid.

I'm fairly lucky in that neutral ground with the gf has become the National and Beck and other such bands. We've already seen the National together and are seeing Beck at the end of June. She's just not into the louder/weirder music that I'm into

On the topic of girlfriends and Tera Melos: one time an ex an I were driving listening to "Party With Gina." It got to that breakdown part at the end and she just hit the next track button cuz she was annoyed with it. Little did she know how annoying "Another Surf" was by comparison
