the Dano Grilled Cheese is really cool. it's got a notched filter EQ that makes it sound like a distortion with a cocked wah. it sounds sort of weird on it's own, but i've used it a bunch for overdubs. (also, it does a really good lo-fi black metal kind of sound, just fyi )

They seems to be rare and pricey!

Not really....

Ineko's are going for well under $100, Akira seems to range from $75-$150, and most of the ModFX line go for $40-75 (and often cheaper - a bunch have moved for <$20 on ebay in the last month).

Maybe not as cheap and/or ubiquitous as some of the Dano stuff, but still worth keeping an eye open for for those looking for a some oddball processing.

Ones that have stuck in my arsenal: 1. Ibanez PM-7, best phaser for the money. I use it all the time. Phaser, ring mod, formant filter, bit reducer, oscillator, freak tremolo. 2. Digitech Digiverb, reverse and gated reverb modes are great for making your guitar not sound like a guitar. The other modes all sound great as well and it has a tone knob for the reverb signal. 3. DOD Hard Rock Distortion. I don't use it as much as the others, but it has this really cool washed out distortion tone. Not really for chugga chuggas or power chords, but perfect for suspensions and major 7ths. Has a built in short doubling delay circuit that can be tweaked for glitching. But when it is set for normal doubling it is pretty sweet once you get the hang of it.

i intended to mention the digiverb in my earlier post as well, but i forgot. great sounding cheap reverb. really great for ambient type of stuff. normal reverb sounds pretty good too.

Backing this. I just got one and used it the other night, haven't even sit down and worked out how to chain stuff yet but it's already impressing the hell out of me.

yours replaced an m5 right dase? i am seriously considering it, or the 50, but theres a few specific filters i love on the m5

I have the Pignose detonator. It is violent. And ugly as sin. But so great. It gives so little of a fuck that the inputs and outputs are on the wrong sides, and it needs one of those annoying Rat-style adaptors to power it up. It is such a dick.


Also, for super super cheap digital delay, these are so fun:



It's pretty much a Marshall Echohead, for a fraction of the price, with a built in looper, and the ability to tap-tempo. I wasn't expecting it to be much good, but I liked it so much, I put it on my board. I'm tempted to buy another, so I can use the reverse delay and the ping pong delay without having to try and turn the switch with my toe.

hahahaha do they? Awesome. And yeah but it doesn't do filters, true. To be honest I never really hung with the M5.
