Ooh! another idea, while we're building amps in our dreams over here.
Take the metal faceplate or grill, have Skully design something, and then have Dan etch it. I would love an amp that looks like my ssstampede.

RE: bass amp. Just to give you an idea of how much tube amps cost, I put together a 5w amp, recycling the old transformers from a different amp and trading for the shell that it's in and it still cost me $300+. That was with 2 tubes. Add 3 more power tubes, the transformers (larger ones at that), and labor and it'd be more than $500...

i figured as much. $500 was my fantasy price for my fantasy amp haha

Building amps is fun. The first one I built was really simple. If I ever have the cash to build another one, I'd like to do something a little more complex for myself to see if I can do it

Im hoping to build a little tube amp for a guitar player buddy of mine by christmas this year. I figure 8 months is a pretty realistic time frame. he blew his amp out, and with it, his dreams.
