:erm: :wha?:

Are you more worried about the size, more worried about the price or both? :snax:

:idk: If it were more about size, I was gonna say you should get someone like pickdropper or one of those other DIY dudes to build you something.

Not saying a $30 Chinese garage/psych fuzz is gonna sound bad, but I think they're probably more difficult to get sounding good than something like a Muff or Fuzz Face.

For cheaps, look for a used EHX Satisfaction, which is not a Maestro clone but a Bosstone clone. If I recall, they omitted the diode clippers but left pads to solder them in.

I love the Bosstone, definitely would say it's my favorite nasty 60s fuzz. The AnalogMan Peppermint and the Toetags EF1 are also great versions of it.

The General guitar bosstone kit was my first build and even I couldn't fuck it up, so if you wanna go that route it's a good one. And it sounds awesome.

I've built a couple of FZ1a, that would be my choice here, but most fuzzes can be tweaked for a 60s sound. The Os Mutantes Regulus is pretty trashy on the small input cap. Fuzz face with some bias tweaks and a smaller input cap will do it too.

Voodoo Lab Superfuzz (bosstone with tweaks) is legit. Actually has a good variety of tones to it.
Fuzzrite clones can probably be found cheap, and work great too.

Of course none are cheap/tiny chinese clones as asked a few posts ago. Can't say I've seen any of those yet.

shameless plug, my Virus fuzz is good for this stuff...

This thread gave me so much GAS I exploded!

And by that, I mean I just ordered a BearFoot FX Bone Bender...because I need a 12th fuzz pedal.

Anyway, I love fuzz, I love 60's garage/psych rock, it will be my first Ge fuzz, I don't have a Tone Bender clone, it was on a clearance sale, I liked the demo, yadda yadda yadda...

...Like the man said, the play's the thing, so if you're thinking about a Tone Bender MK I clone, check this out. :)

I'll second Chank and say for this kinda fuzz, almost anything Basic Audio is a great choice.
Fuzz Mutant, Zippy would be perfect, Zonk, Marq Won.
Maybe partying will help.

The 3pdt Regulus VIII clone is affordable, fugly, relatively small, and brings many shades of retro, trashy fuzziness along with pseudo treble boosting and overdrive:

I've owned one for a few years, and it is periodically in rotation when the mood strikes. Amazon reviews seem to suggest QC is hit or miss with this company, and my unit has to be placed early in the chain with isolated power for best results. Some of the one star ratings were probably situations where users placed buffers before the pedal, which will both introduce noise and decrease sustain.

For cheap Chinafuzz in that realm, look at one of the Joyo "Voodoo Octaves" (or the "Ultimate Octave", before they changed it for..obvious reasons).

Does the really trashy garage band stuff very well for cheap.
