The American economy isn't doing poorly enough so we should definitely take our money and give it to China whenever possible so as to ensure employment and a decent standard of living for our families, friends and neighbors. That's how this economic stuff works right?

And then when it catches on fire, throw it away and buy more chinese crap.

Well I just ordered one. I'm not particularly concerned with manufacturing shortcuts that make for a harder to work on and/or a less robust touring amp. And I will not be going on a world tour with this (or any other of my Anglo-made) amps any time soon.
It will likely be a fun thing to goof around on in the basement as well as have available for recording. Seems like it should be a very solid sounding pedal platform, which I'm looking forward to having. Hell, I might even see what it can do for bass.
I can see how people with more discriminating tastes, requirements, and ambitions might be turned off by something like this. But for $229 & free shipping, fuck it.
Fuck it.

Ha! I suppose that if it's somehow able to catch the concrete blocks and slab floor on fire with its mystical Chinese slave labor magic, before I can grab the 'Merican made fire extiguisher, then I've got $120k of renter's insurance.

Actually concrete while doesn't catch fire will break apart under intense heat. that's why even concrete buildings burn and collapse.

Price is right and reviews, those of the positive kind, are pretty favorable.
But the bad reviews are all QC issues and I don't want to shell out to have it fixed even once a year or whatever because it's cheaply put together.
That said, I'm not knocking it. For somebody that knows what they're doing this might be a pretty great amp.

This. Aside from the transformers / tubes, most of the shit components could be replaced for < $50 I'm guessing, even with inflated prices on parts. That is assuming you know how to work in a tube amp though.

But at that amount of work to make sure it is gig-worthy, why not just buy a gig-worthy amp?

While for its purpose (a cheap marshall clone that doubles as a possible decent amp mod platform) its probably not a bad head I would much rather go out and spend just a tiny bit more and get a Peavy VB-2..... very similar options as far as tubes, channels, etc but the peavey you know could drop down the grand canyon and still power up, and look better while doing it.

I know everyone has a different conception of money, but I'd like to know where I can find these sub $600 VB-2s
