I try and just use one. It's a Fuzzrcious Oh See Demon, beast on guitar.
It has the momentary feedback mod but i'm thinking of ordering one with the second drive setting mod....so much potential in that unit.

Eleven currently, plus a rackmount preamp, and gain channels I occasionally use on 2 of 3 amps.
I have another being built.
I could get by with 3-4 probably. I wouldn't be happy or be able to just compose on the fly nearly as fast though - literally gunning for the 'let's have any sound I need on tap' thing.
There are days I don't use any of them. Sometimes I use 8+ in one piece.

Usually 3-5, but non sound the same.
Also, my board it typically all the pedals I own, minus a few extra fuzzes I occasionally swap for different flavor.

I've got seven...Used only run two max, then found fuzz.
SD-1>The Elements>Pixel>SS/BS Mountain Range>ECT>4545>Bazz Fuss.
Could probably get away with flipping a few of those, but they all seem so different and have their own uniqueness so they all stick around.

Four. One definitely requires one for each season. I'm rocking the Box of War for muffy goodness, an Okko Dominator for 'teh br00tz' and general distortion needs, a Spaceman Sputnik for od/crazy fuzz, and a Toneczar Vault octave fuzz and most everything else.

Four plus a boost... Fingerprint for oversaturated unstable velcro fuzz, Mini for grit, light rhythm tones and stacking, Fix'd fuzz for fuzzier leads (main use) or dense rhythm, Elements for cleaner leads and twangy, marshally rhythm (main use)
need to tweak the Fix'd a bit though... too much sonic overlap with the Elements and I really want to keep both

The Doom Rig im building will probably have the following.....so far
Supercollider
Donner Party
Wooly Mammoth clone
Onesie Fuzz
Zoom Power Drive(for boost)
Algal Bloom
Dano Fab Fuzz
Itll probably be cut down from there as there is some overlap, The Onesie and Fab are basically just chuggable fuzzes so one'll probably go but thats the plan now
