again though, those aren't simple, minimal synths.

Very true. The Rocket, by this measure, is actually a great suggestion.

i'd dig it if it had a 3 octave keyboard.
i hated them before that for their stupid software & controllers.

Also very few recommendations have been ANALOG... The Rocket is analog and it's basically a "how to synth" kind of synth... I would say that if you like the Sub Phatty or MS-20 Mini then save up and just get one cause nothing really does Synth like ANALOG!!! The Micro is on my list but just so I can add it to my Evolver, Lil Phatty, Minitaur, Opus and Juno 106...

Anal Logs Rulezzz...

Also again Synths don't need a 3 octave keyboard to be usable...

Whoops, yeah. The Rocket has an analog filter but no analog oscillators.

Well it's got a VCA and a VCF so if it's got DCOs I can live with that... The Filter stepping is what sucks with DCFs...

My Sh-32 can make some mean ass sounds for a VA but you really need to play a real Analog to see what you're missing...

Noted.

But those defects do give character to some VAs. The JP8000 has a filter that clicks and steps a little, but when you hear it, super saw aside, it doesn't sound bad, per se. It sounds like a JP8000, not a VST or anything like that.

The JP-8000 was also almost 3gs when it came out... What I always say is that if you want that exact sound, whether it's a Rhodes, or an Orange, or a Minimoog, or a Bass Clarinet you have to pay the price to be the Boss... Spend as much as you can on certain items or you will be forever searching...

TRUTH

I would rather have less stuff, as long as what I have is awesome and inspiring.
