Good call. That Tele of yours is gorgeous, and I bet it sounds fantastic. I think what you really ought to do is instead of replacing the Tele with something else, save up for a while and get another guitar to supplement the Tele.

I'll second the "routers are not that expensive" sentiment. Mod your tele if you want more tones

You're right. I can't afford 2 guitars at te moment, but selling that tele would be a mistake.
Especialliy with those Lollar PU it sound good.

Used Duesenbergs can be got for a fraction of the price on German Ebay. Also, they are insanely well-made, unbelievably comfortable and playable, and those pickups sound godly.

While I'd never expect my Tele to be my one and only super versatile guitar, I also understand that it's totally unique sounding and soooooooo comfortable to play and super awesome in its simplicity. Pretty much irreplaceable IMO. Def keep that awesome Tele syl and add another guitar in the future to supplement it. Eventually you'll get all your sonic bases covered.

The switch from a humbucker equipped PRS with tons of switching options to a more straight forward single coil loaded Tele can take some adjusting too I'm sure. I def relate with your need for another HB loaded guitar. Just be patient and find exactly what you're after and ensure it has coil tap or series/parallel options. You'll be ecstatic that your Tele is still around when that time comes.

Here is a side by side comparison of the distances between frets for a 25.5" scale and a 24.75" scale.
Obviously there are differences but the differences are pretty tiny!
Everyone has a preference and you can't please everyone. I went with the 24.75 scale because it is a good "middle of the road" scale length. I have never had anyone say they felt too cramped on it BUT that doesn't mean someone could.

No disrespect to the poster that mentioned duesies being top notch guitars but I have played everything from their bolt on line to the Mike Campbell signature and one (I forget the exact model) that retailed for $4K. Every one of them had buzzy frets.
The woodwork is decent BUT so is the woodwork on an $800 korean made fender.
If someone wanted a korean made electric hollow or semi hollow guitar then the Newark street line from Guild would be the way to go. I'd take one of their Aristocrats before a duesie and I'd have atleast a grand in my pocket to boot!

After these are done I have....ummmmm....maybe 3 more "solid body" electric models to introduce (including my budget model that will retail for under $1k). Then there are some hollow body models.
Then that is it for new electric models unless something really strikes my fancy!
From there it will just be a matter of beefing up existing tooling, finding ways to streamline production, and hopefully orders will be coming in for existing models!

Talking about Korean hollows / semi-hollows, those Eastwoods are supposed to be good (though they do lack character in my opinion).
Hofners are really nice, especially the old ones which were still made in Germany, I think now they're also made in Korea.
I can understand Sylnau about the scale length, I'm not a fan of the 24 3/4 scale myself either, it really has a different less punchy and more woolly sound to it and I don't like the feel of it higher up on the neck, it's just too cramped especially when you have those horrible big and square frets like I have on my Gibson ES335 and I even have quite thin fingers, but that's just my opinion offcourse.
Someone knows about brands other than Duesenberg that make or made medium sized (semi)-hollowbody guitars with a 25,5" scale?

EDIT, Had a quick look and found these:
Carvin Holdsworth, Gibson ES-5, Tal Farlow (both not medium sized though), Gretsch (some models), Hamer, Heritage, Kauer,
PRS Hollowbody (25" scale), Reverend

OH I totally forgot about the carvin holdsworth models. While not everyone's cup of tea looks-wise, the fatboy model is quite respectable!

Strange guitars indeed, but hey, could be interesting to try it.
I played a Carvin budget Strat once, complete with the weird multi polepiece pickups (single single hum) and an ebony fretboard, it actually sounded quite nice.
Man, I'd love to have a good lefty Tele or hollowbody, or both.
Just thinking, aren't there any Canadian builders that make nice hollowbodies with a 25,5" scale? (it might be less expensive to get a guitar from a Canadian builder if that's where you live)
