If you line the cavity with copper shielding tape, solder your ground to that and put shielding on the back of the pick guard you should be in good shape grounding wise.

One (almost) down. I just have to eat some dinner, then I'm going to set pickup heights, bridge height, and intonate this bitch. It looks way cooler than I expected it too, considering all the bullshit I've been going through with project guitars over the past few days. Better pics and sounds once I get it all tuned and shit.

Nice job, dude, turned out good.
Doing project guitars for the first time can be frustrating as hell, but every little issue that pisses you off leads to knowledge that you can use next time. Or on something else entirely. It won't be nearly as overwhelming or annoying.

I'll try and get some sound samples tomorrow. I really want to hear how these bass pickups are going to sound through my amp and such.

SOUNDS. A description of what's going on can be found via the soundcloud link.
Edit: The dirt + distortion is a Mini being used for the dirt followed by an OCD for the full blast. The jammy part at the end is just the mini turned up into fuzzier territory.

thanks!
It was tuned in drop Bb, but later last night I dropped it just one more half-step to A and it sounds so much heavier. I might have to grab some super heavy strings to slap on it. . .
