Holy fucking shit, I totally missed this thread last night! JMJ being here is making me Image Justin, I'm a huge fan and I'm gonna try to not be all squeeee and man-crush if you stick around.

Also, I really like the sound you got from 2:57 to 3:02

Hmm, assmaster with both switches to the left? That was by far the best sound I loved out of my silicon b;assmaster.

Fuuuuuuuuuuuck more pedals to want is NOT WHAT I FUCKING NEED RIGHT NOW

All this said, I find myself very behind the times in terms of all kinds of shit that's cool that's come out in the past two years. I've been spending all my time/money on microphones, outboard and synths, and need to understand what's really great out there pedal-wise now. So, I'm going to study up and do some research in this fun place. Ok bye - off to Vegas. We're playing that weird new festival in old downtown...."Life Is Beautiful". Thanks for the kind hospitality.
What kind of Synths (they make me :!!!: I have been going crazy getting some synths)?
Did you record Tegan and Sara with those Mics (they make me )?

Cool shit, eh? MASF-Possessed, Montreal Assembly-Goodbye 24, Dwarfcraft-PitchGrinder, all ILF builders, Eurorack Modular, having your pedals custom etched

I have a Diabolik arriving on Thursday and will be picking up one of the first Black Starcasters from Sweetwater when they arrive. I'm not one for hero worship and frankly I don't really know much about specific bass players, but Beck has been in my top five favorite artists for 15 years now and JMJ is one of the few bassists that I have a real knowledge and affinity for. Most of the bassplayers who influenced me were local guys I knew when I first started playing.

That said, I love bassmasters (had three at once a few years ago, a germ, a double germ and a silicon) and have been without one for a long time and was already planning on buying a black Starcaster since I played one at Chicago Music Exchange last month and figured out that it didn't neck dive. I find it amusing that our tastes would line up so much.

Hello Justin, I ordered the Diabolik after watching your YT post. I immediately loved the squish of the pedal. My favorite setting would be bass at 9 o'clock, fuzz at 7 and squish full blast. So thanks a lot and best regards from The Netherlands!

I have to say listening to the Demo that I am getting a real funky vibe from it. Its not just straight up brutal fuzz but it has some pop and character too it. I could imagine slamming this into a envelope filter and getting some groovy sounds.

Consider me interested. I would love to see it stacked into an OD and see how far you could push the sound of it.

I'm into it. I hear what JMJ is saying about that harmonic envelope that occurs. It reminds me of the foldback settings on the SA multi wave distortion (among other things..but that's the only pedal I've actually owned that did that kind of sound). I've been meaning to get an analog distortion or fuzz that does something similar for a bit now (i.e. prunes and custard...noise box). I've never played a B:Assmaster..but the envelope on the Diabolik sounds a bit more subtle than the other examples mentioned. But MORE FUZZ. and that might be better. Hopefully I can try it out sometime.
