late to the party, but Elements
i feel it seriously ended my search for a distortion pedal, sounds great hi or low gain, with guitar or bass, I play a jazzmaster and it sounds absolutely amazing with SC - just the way i wanted it, snappy twangy attack if you want with super-tight chugga-chugga palmmuting when you dig in
it's fucking heavy even with just single coils... the price is totally worth it!

Ok, The elements seems the right choice, but, can I obtain a good RAT sound with the elements? Is it good for shoegazing? Can it cut thru mix?

Yes, most definitely, and without a doubt.

If you decide that the Elements is too metal for you, consider the Way Huge Fat Sandwich. You can get them second-hand for cheap and they sound great. Dirty and grungy in the best ways. Much clearer and more dynamic than a muff. Super tweakable.

The problem is that I'm searching for something simpler than the elements, three knobs are enough for me, clipping switch is a good option. Slowly I'm prefering dirt pedals with less controls, I'm becoming a plug n play guy. Elements seems too perfect for me,I'm searching for something more grungy and that dorsn't clean up with the volume pot! Something like an old school RAT, but with a better EQ and less trebly!

Elements really is easy to dial in. Don't worry about it. All knobs at 12 (except mix at 100%) and all switches up will sound good. All knobs maxed sounds good. It's an easy pedal to work with.

Yeah, i also used to think it's a lot until i found my sound five minutes after i unpacked it

But if you¨re looking for a Rat-ish sound, I'd say it's a bit different... I actually had a Rat before the Elements, it was a You Dirty with all the bells and whistles... Rats sound more "closed" sounding, it's totally in the clipping, it sounds more tight in some sense (not in the metal sense), it's way more garage sounding to my years
it sounds like 90's

Exactly! This is what I need!
Maybe a good Rat clone like rat tail or R.O.U.S? The black plague suounds very grungy, but it's out of stock

Confession: I was too lazy to read anything but the thread title and first post.
With that out of the way, Empress has their new 'Heavy' pedal, which may be worth a look if you're interested in the HIGH GAIN TOANZ.
