Finally, an OD expensive enough for my guitar playing.

this is a little harsher than my character to say, but basically how i feel. plus i love the way an old fender amp looks, or a vox.. as far as i'm concerned the best amps have already been made and there doesn't need to be any of this greedy flash hoo ha in Nashville, or anywhere for that matter, going on. i'm all for artfully designed amps and gear, but why not just rehouse your $500 or less amp to give it a better aesthetic if that's what you want? plus all the demos on that website are just awful. sounds like garageband distortion... which isn't always a bad thing, but at least garageband is pretty much free.

Admittedly the little 8 watt one is kind of neat and at $650 is not terribly expensive but more than I would pay for something with no tone control.

Dude, that's a bit harsh. There is a lot of harshness in this thread. That Sol guitarist had some pretty killer chops and made the amp sound amazing—to my ears at least. I love that thick chewy sound personally. I'd never pay that much for one though. To be honest, mate, I think you're being a bit hypocritical when you're about to put down a deposit for a MotorAve. :poke: Many would criticise you for that, stating that you could buy a Hagstrom Viking Deluxe instead of a BelAire, or one of those PureSalem guitars instead of a LeMans, or even a Paul Rhoney instead of a McQueen.

Am I the only one who loved how they sounded?

Jeeez....Cant anyone make fun of anything around here anymore? I mean its a fuckin amp dude what more do you want? Theres no a whole lot you can do. Its just the sum of the electrical components, the same as pedals. Its not like these amps are complex or anything. My dad and I could 100% make an amp just as good in a couple of hours in our garage. Did it sound great? Yeah, but its nothing my meatsmoke couldnt do, and i payed less than $2k for that.

Now lets move on to the guitars. For alot of people guitars are just a paintbrush and whatever they have will do the trick. Thats fine. Im just a little different. My hands are not the same as others and Id like to try something built with that in mind. That being said, i dont think motorave is getting my order. Putting down $2500 just to get on a waitlist may work for rich guys but it doesnt for me.

At the end of the day, i have the money to do pretty much whatever i want gear wise. Who knows, i could end up getting one of those science amps don posted about so i can have stereo sound for my lastgasp thermin and just completely forget about guitar. Or i could find a magical squier and spend the rest on pedals like pretty much everyone here advises. Or you never know i could go up to the motorave shop and be impressed enough that i go for the exorbitant waitlist fee, but either way i go ill be putting $5000 to alot better use than a 20 watt single channel clean amp. No matter how good it looks. But hey if thats what blows your skirt up, feel free to get one for yourself. Its something my dad always aid "Let those who ride decide"
