I use Fast Fret to wipe it down, and the rag to get those nasty frets. I started using it in 1999. I've only bought two bottles in that time. shit last. I'm satisfied with the product.

I don't think Maple really needs the qualities that lemon oil offers, I think maple is better with mineral oil (or fast fret as mentioned, same stuff).
seriously though, ive only used lemon oil on rosewood and billet polish on aluminum. ive never done anything more than wipe ebony and maple with a rag.
i'm not letting steel wool anywhere near a guitar of mine, especially after buying used necks on eBay and seeing the condition of some of the fretboards. i use whatever kind of fretboard conditioner i've most recently gotten from the guitar shop. right now i'm using Planet Waves and a soft cloth.
