You can't let this go, man.
Sorry to disappoint but I ended up finding a guy willing to trade his fretless for a guitar I never play. It made a lot more sense financially, but I know I'm going to regret passing up the Precision Faith

Here's what I ended up getting:
I contacted the manufacturer to get some more info:
"You’ve got a Vintage V940FL Bass
It’s now discontinued but we have managed to dig you the following out of the archives which we hope tells you what you are wondering!
Vintage V940FL Features:
Powered by a single 9v battery, coupled with a highly versatile split coil P and rear-mounted J type pickups, these are versatile and powerful basses. Available in standard 4-string format or as a 5-string with low B string for increased low-note, keyboard-matching ability.
Attractive fretted bass guitar with stylishly-shaped double cutaway natural-finish bubinga body. Minimal lower horn size allows complete access to the whole two octave fingerboard. Centre split coil and rear single coil pickup layout offers huge range of classic bass tones. Smooth action rosewood fingerboard on comfortable satin finish maple neck. Four control layout includes active bass and treble controls for more dynamic sounds with greater depth, combined with sparkling highs."
Super customer service by the way; I got a reply a few hours after sending my email.
I'm not overly stoked about it having active pickups, and I haven't had a chance to play it through any effects, but man does it play and sound good.
