I'm currently looking into Avatar Contemporary 2x12s; cause I'm cheap and have had good experiences with Avatar.

Can we please start an Internet band? The two of us could probably cover almost everything. We both play guitar and bass. We both love that slow fucking sludge music. We both love Avatar.

I'm into it; I've got some local folks that wanna hook up. I may in the interim pick up an inexpensive 5 watt combo amp (viewtopic.php?f=149&t=34616) for recording and I need to get on top of my PC situation so I can have an internet machine in addition to a separate DAW that runs really lean. Eventually I'll have that Orange or that Hovercraft Dwarfnaut 20.

Any of you all play your guitar; through a 300 tube bass amp; pushing an appropriately rated guitar cab?

I was playing mah guitar; through my SVT-CL; pushing a 2x15 bass cab and while the tone was less than ideal; it was a much more musical sounding than the guitar amp that I have. The guitar amp is admittedly a piece of shit, that I'm becoming more and more disenfranchised with (Pignose G40V; I've tinkered with it but it sucks).

Honestly; I'm talking myself out of it,...but I could potentially pick up a Marshall 1960 then I'd be set (maybe maybe not) on a cab when I get an actual guitar head; but in the interim I could use the SVT to push the cab. This would be a stage rig of course. Would still want something for recording and practicing at home.

So obviously with my idea,...I'd not be pushing a 300watt amp into power tube compression. I'd be relying on pedals for gain and likely the tone stack is not voiced for guitar. Soundmen and bandmates would hate my guts.

Made by a guy in Oly. He'll work with you on what you want. I'm talking to him about a fridge sized cab for guitar right now. he seems really cool. I've only seen his finished work at the seatac guitar show and what he had there looked Killer.

yeah I was super impressed. he uses cnc routing to do the carving so can do whatever you want. his theory is that it lightens the cab without loosing strength. I'm going to have him do a 4x12/2x15 fridge monster. should be rad.

Oh believe me I will! I've talked to him about him doing the cab build and then I finish it and wire it up. So I'll probably document all that when it happens :thumb:
