If you had said “I can get that sound from my Tech 21 VT”, at least 100 guys would have agreed.

Probably. My Mark VI has a built in chorus with a crossover. I'll play around with it and get back to you.

Seen them finally for the first time late 2011, then october 2012 (an off show to try out new songs, that kicked ass.)
His tone live is NUTS.
He used a Dan Armstrong bass instead of the Ric at the October show.

That guy is so goddamn cool he actually turned down an invite to join Queens of the Stone Age. Who does that?!?! Jesse F. Keeler, that's who.
That said, I wish he would've joined QOTSA.

better than fucking mikey shoes or whatever the hell his stupid name is
Mikey Shoes is great man. Seen Queens last month and he killed it.
The new record is the first record he played on according to some interviews I have watched, so anything he played before that was what Alain or Nick played previously... Which was also killer. The Dude rips!
That being said...JFK in the Queens would have been insane based on the new DFA songs I seen live last year. Friiiiiiiiig.

BTW, he used an Acoustic 450 for sure. The distortion circuit on that is 100% that sound.
Especially with a grabber and an 8x10.

Hmmmmmmm... I wonder if anyone's tried to "amp in a pedal" that sound...

I used my buddies Acoustic 450 with the grabber when I had it through an Ampeg 810 and couldn't quite replicate that sound (not that I really want to, just had all the things and was fuckin' around)
I have no idea how he makes it sound good. The distortion on a 450 sounds super weird to me whenever I tried to play it like that. Put an OCD in front and it's pretty gnarly though.
His live tone is rockin'

Did you have a chorus in front of the amp?

Yep.
I feel like his speakers in the 810's and that Peavey have a lot to do with it too. I remember reading an interview with him years back and he didn't even say he used the Chorus on bass... he said he used it on synth, There might be something he's hiding, who knows. He seemed pretty secretive about his set up at the beginning.
In some live pictures I have seen some sort of an effects unit on top of his Peavey... not quite sure what it is.

Yeah he's lying that bass tone is chorusy as fuck.
Also, I'll say it again: Shittiest distortion pedal you can find in a pawn shop.

Ibanez SC10 Super Stereo Chorus and Dunlop GCB-95 Crybaby, apparently.
