The Justin Broderick remix of Hym has got to be the most prefect breakdown guitar part mix ever. At 5.13 in.

This isnt Pelican.

Still though I get why people didn't like Wavering Radiant, I personally did. But from what ive heard of Palms... it's a bit meh? Honestly it just sounds like what I would be playing if I was in any other ISIS influenced band that exists now.

*I do like Pelican fyi

Heh, I dunno who they are. ^^; But I'm reading something about firing their drummer now. Anyway the guy s talented, but this super tight thing he has going on in this prerelease track is just terrible with those vocals. It isn't great with the guitar, either. It just sounds like the thing was put together by Band-In-A-Box and slammed real hard. It's this ewwy gooey song backed by the least expressive drumming I have ever heard. I've heard gabber that is more delicate than this. I actually suspect the drummer is fine in real life and it's just the producer who needs to be thrown from a train... but I dunno, I guess they signed off on it, so maybe they're just not the band for me! Anyway, sorry to poop in someone's music thread; that's not normally my style, I was just so shocked at the production.

Lulz. And fuck yeah, Pelican!!

I've said it before, and all of the doom/stoner/sludge/stoner/aaronturnerisgod/oldmangloomfans guys made fun of me for it, but I don't care. I fucking LOVE Wavering Radiant, it has the most epic crescendos they ever did, and it has this psych edge to it that the earlier albums didn't. The climax in Hall of the Dead and the slide solo in Threshold of Transformation make me nut my pants. I think it is the best Isis album, fucking period, end of sentence

(yes, I think it is better than Panopticon)

I'm with you, Treshold, for example, is one of my favourite ISIS songs :)

Likewise.

That song is a masterpiece, like a culmination of Isis's vast technical and songwriting leaps throughout the years. The hate on that album was baffling to me. I like it far better than In The Absence Of Truth which sounds cluttered and half baked at times. Wavering Radiant was a proper follow up to Panopticon, a logical and interesting progression IMO.

I'd throw Caxide in that mix as well. Dude had a very unique playing style and bass tone, perfect fit for Isis.

Honestly, each member is as important as each other.

Eh, I always thought they needed a better drummer. He improved noticeably by Absence tho, when he was probably focusing on music full time for the first time ever with Isis.

+1 - and everyone always forgets Cliff Meyer, who I respect the hell out of, since in addition to Isis, he's such a huge part of Red Sparowes.
