Yea the effects in the zxe-fx are quite good really...lacks in the fuzz world but everything else is tweakable enough to the sound I want. The killer thing is the routing though.

not saying it is the *correct* impression
No modelling of effects, it has the standard "built in modelled effects" but no add your own.
Only four slots as well, same as the usable but cheap options in the Fender Mustang (which is serviceable except for the fuzz, with a surprisingly good outboard reverb tank). From their FAQ, "The Kemper Profiler offers 4 independent stomp effects slots which can host a full arsenal of stomp box effects including painstakingly modeled famous overdrive and distortion stomp boxes, compressor, reverb, several delays, and a beautiful rotary speaker emulation."
The Kemper just does amps, at particular points in the curve - the modelling process is just slam some effects/eq on top of a sample frequency range once the gloss is removed.
May make decent sounds but well, so do the modellers from a decade ago if you tweak 'em.

I always wondered this about the KPA. Being able to parallel process stuff really does it for me on the Axe-Fx. Like delay with phaser on the trails or envlope modulated reverb or weird stuff like that. I still find myself running out of space when I'm screwing around but its still more expansive than any pedal setup I have had.

Yea, if I didn't have a ludicrous signal chain I'd consider starting over with an Axe for the routing options alone. It's all the joy of the good rack units with updated funtime stuff.
I'd probably run out of space regularly on the Axe as well, and cry a lot about not having discrete outs in a half dozen places.
The stuff is getting there but *none* of the fuzz models at any price from anybody are really worth a spit.
They've gotten amp distortion down to a science but wacky is still outside the processors - only company that might have ever gotten close was pre-buyout Lexicon had they kept going but nobody else has the wherewithal to do dumb stuff for the sake of doing dumb stuff.

I mean seriously I would just be happy with a doable fuzz factory clone in the axe-fx...just give me some oscillating fuzz.

Agree wholeheartedly. Just *one* usable fuzz in my GR-55 would make it the most killer unit I could imagine. Just one.
But no. It'll be merely killer versus absolutely killer.
Same with the other options - if I want a dirt box on the Fender Mustang V, I just use a real one - the built in stuff is just embarassing and noisy, especially on fuzz. Yet the amp models with gain are flat out great in most cases - it's a stupid situation.
The good modellers even respond to input gain and getting pushed, but....they can't have a digital fuzz for shit.
It really is mindboggling.
