Fair enough, I just couldn't really gel with it. I did get better at using it over time, but I found it hard to time loops well having to hold the switch down, and eventually that and the volume drop made me sick of it enough to shift the thing.

yeh i didn't really dig it too much for intricate looping (i leave that for my dl4) but for short ambient/noisy drones on the fly i really liked it

Yeah totally, it worked fine for stuff that didn't need to be timed perfectly.

I've still got mine since first release andI haven't had the heart to sell it, even if I hadn't used it in a while. But recently put it back on my board, though haven't had the chance to play around it again. The volume drop (for me) solely depends if they're in the FX Loop or not.

Damn, I've been planning to sell mine but all these regrets are causing second-guessing...

It's not exactly easy to get hold of but the Yamaha Magicstomp is also capable of multitap delays.

That's the exact sound that has drawn me back to the SMMH. I like it really fast. It gives this really cool stuttery sound. Very unique. Sadly, I'm with monkeydancer on the volume drop and looper issues. I also thought as a straight delay it was a little lacking.

Exactly
Damn EHX for making such unique pedals with stupid flaws

man I just sold my smmh, which I loved, but need funds
and thought it might have been overkill with my boards
but damn, I miss that damn multitap and reverse
and the added loop whenever you want.
so can the particle satisfy the smmh wonderlust?
it has a tasty reverse though different, maybe better?
has a kind of loop feature with the freeze, sounds way better than the freeze itself from ehx too.
though would have been really cool to have a momentary footswitch for that I think.
what you guys think? :idk:
who ended up buying a smmh back and is happy versus the particle, which seems to be topping everyone's lists these days?
damn I'm amped from this COFFEE!
:animal:

I had a SMMH a while back and I've got a Particle now, and they're toooooootally different. The Particle's reverse is pretty cool, but not as much 'true' reverse as the smmh and it's less tweakable in some ways. The hold feature on the Particle is pretty sweet, it can be tricky to get a good sample down but when you do it's awesome and great for drones, glitchy noises. If you set the threshold right you can get it to change notes automatically by playing harder and that's amazing. I would like if it had a momentary switch for that or if the exp pedal worked on the threshold, but it's still very cool.

The Particle doesn't really do normal delays as well as the smmh, it can but they're nothing to write home about. The pitch stuff is awesome, it has pretty impressive polyphonic tracking which is kinda glitchy but not terrible.

Basically, SMMH does normal delays, has tap tempo, looping. Particle does crazy noises.

dammit, in trying to simplify I shot myself in the foot then.
didn't think I would miss the smmh so bad, even with it's idiosyncrazies
anybody in here buy one back?
ugh gear regret sucks.
but eating and paying the rentz is necessary

Even though it has limitations, I won't be selling mine anytime soon. It's one pedal that is on the no flip list.

I just acquired another one for the same price I originally bought it for last year,
lesson learned.
