I love clean blend so much that I wish there was a cheaper option than the gig rig wet box to ALWAYS have clean blend. $250?!? Pffffft...

Even if you hate clean blend, you can just boost it and make it not so clean :)

Fuck yeah, od-tafm was one of my favourite things to do when i had one, dirt sandwich style.

must depend on a rig then :) didn't work that well with me, but i use EL84 amp, so not that much headroom, you know

I guess the pharaoh I was using was modded for less gain and more chugabilty and specifically articulation. It sounded so massive and muffy yet still being articulate. Maybe I shouldn't have parted with it...

I have to say that there is a reason so many people are recommending the algal bloom.
It's pretty fantastic, and meets most of the requirements you're looking for.

Another thing I will recommend is the SS/BS Super Puzzle. With the right settings it's super clear sounding.
I hear every note and it's awesome. I use single coils mostly though for what it's worth. I like clear stuff.

I second that recommendation for the super puzzle. It can get raspy and gross and dirty but also articulate.
The subtle octave helps, too.
