Yes, I have played one with bass. It is, of course, dependent on the style of pickup and rig, but this is what I experienced.
The Bluebird's circuit actually blends in a touch of of the "dry" signal so that there's a hint of attack maintained alongside the wooliness. With the stronger power of bass frequencies, more of this attack comes through with a bass, creating the sound of an old tube bass amp cranked up to the point of speaker tearing insanity. It still sounds like your bass but with all sorts of stuff heaped on top of it.
