Awesome demo. Pedal sounds awesome. I like how you showed us the difference between your nice stereo recording and the camera mic. So we can be jealous of the pedal and you recording setup. Just to be clear there, there is no sarcasm, I'm being serious (after I read that it sounded sarcastic, so not intended).

OK, thanks I guess. I was just trying to show the various sounds of the pedal, not intended to make anyone jealous. I thought it would be cool to hear the difference between the camera mic and a recorded stereo sound. Maybe people would pick up on a different character of the pedal in each example. I feel it made a nice contrast of sound and also points out that many factors affect the sound of a pedal demo, it's not always as simple as plug in and record. So I want to bring people in to that as best I can. The camera mic acts more as a snapshot of the sound in the room while the properly mic'd amps provide a more realistic example of what to expect from a pedal.
Also being as most pedal youtube demo's are simply recorded into camera mic's It's nice for poeple to know, that may not be the entire representation of a pedals sound character. I personally like to hear various angles of sound in demo's which is why I include a few amps and such. I'm just trying to make demo's that I would want to see/hear, and I enjoy playing with the different aspects involved in that. I'm not trying to occupy the "better than yours" scenario at all, hope that's not what you took from it. I actually put quite a bit of effort into the blog posts/demo's, and hope that people can appreciate that for what it is. And gain some satisfaction or information from viewing them as well. It's for the fans of fuzz, basically that's all.
I get that not everyone will understand the 'why' and will put out some negativity toward me or the demo's, but it's not like they're paying for anything or I'm getting paid for that matter. Nothing gained/ nothing lost, if you dig...great. If not, you're not required to check it out. But I do consider any feedback that will make my demo's better. (aside from being a host or talking alot as I really just like demo's that cut to the point - the sound) I'll leave that for the people that do it well.
Anyway, I think I know where you're coming from and I'm glad you enjoyed the sounds. If you have any criticisms or suggestions on making the demo's/blog posts better let me know, as most things, the blog is a work in progress and always getting better I think. Any suggestions for future posts are definitely considered as well, as long as I can get my hands on the pedals you want to hear.

The demos sound incredible mate, thank you so much for sharing !
You got some really great riffs going on, I love your style. Do you play in a band ?
Also, what alternative pedal would you advise us for this sound ? If I got it correctly, it's a one-off !

Re: D*A*M BUZZOTRON (Review and Demo)
^Thanks man, I currently just record in my studio. I am in the beginning stages of realizing my latest project with a couple other players though, and the first video "I" here would be somewhat an example of what I am bringing to the table for that. I am glad you dig it.
This pedal is basically a buzzaround circuit with a few tweaks for a more tailored fuzz-tone. Basically any well made buzzaround build with the same transistors and quality parts will get you close I'd say. There are many highly gifted builders around that I'm sure know this circuit well, and can deliver a quality fuzzboxx to you at a reasonable rate and timeframe. Perhaps some will read this and offer their services...Otherwise I could recommend Ghost effects, Creepy fingers, Basic Audio, among other resident builders that take on custom builds.

I can see a few circuit differences in the high res pics modeerf provided but I agree that a well built Buzzaround will get you there.

Re: D*A*M BUZZOTRON (Review and Promo)
surprised at all the hate here...you'd think it was TGP...for the record, have any of you guys ever contacted Dave and asked for a custom build? If you guys were really that interested maybe you would pop over to the DAM forum, hang out a bit, get to know people and put in a little time and guess what, there's a really good chance you'll get your turn with a custom or small run fuzz for the price of maybe two of the fuzz units you currently have on your pedalboard...and that's only because of the USD to GBP exchange rate and shipping, otherwise it would be about the same price as your top end devices.
hiorgos wrote:So why to promote a pedal that probably is never going to be into production, and the 5 units made will cost like a million Dollars each?
I don't get it.

And promote it

And I'd bet DAM has to appeal to the "rich" crowd because they aren't the hot boutique builder anymore. They gotta make money somehow.
On the other hand, I dig your demos!![]()
Thanks for taking the time to send some fuzz knowledge our way.

that someone took the time to put together a killer demo of a fuzz pedal that many assume they can never obtain, nor afford, therefore why waste the time since this device will never see the light of day to us commoners?

"Promote".
If we want DAM, we go to the DAM Forum. Ilf is rolling different, a lot people are on a tight budget and play and create awesome music with often shitty equipment. In that Case, promoting a one off here is Kind of going to the hungry that can hardly afford The Daily meal and promoting an exquisit restaurant.
So you better think about The reaction before you post. Pretty General Statement but it often helps. In this Case i was not wondering how it evolved - i was surprised in The tc looper thread though.
And The op edited The First post BTW, explained some stuff about the demo and now we all Love each other again.
...but several days later you come, didn't read The whole thread obviously and pick some random posts that don't fit your own opinion and Start to argue with us. Come on.
I would Love to read your thoughts here (e.g. you had 1.5 fuzz pigdog shootout several years ago here) and have a continous discussion. Instead you Open door and piss on The carpet...

I don't see the big deal. It's a nice sounding fuzzstortion. Not pants-shittingly good though.
Uh, no offense to ILF or anyone here, but from the pics of people's boards and pedge collections, I'm being kind in saying that "tight budget" is a relative term. You could feed a family for 3 months on the $$$ needed to fill one of those boards. Average of $150, $200 per pedal times like a dozen or more units? That ain't tight.

Edited or not, the only thing Daron 'promotes' is his killer gear blog. What changes were made from the original post, the term 'promo' to 'review'? If there is more then I stand corrected.
If we want DAM, we go to the DAM Forum.
Then how is it builders like Mountainking and a 1000 others are discussed and reviewed here daily with impunity?

A quick stroll through the pedalboard forum proves otherwise to me..there is some major gear being acquired here.

I did read the entire thread and stand by my comments. I didn't pick randomly

I look forward to engaging in more productive discussion as well, but the fact that I have pretty much only DAM pedals on my pedalboard I'll have to tread carefully obviously...

Re: D*A*M BUZZOTRON (Review and Demo)
I think you guys are making a little too much over something that really amounts to nothing.
Tastes run slightly differently between ILF and D*A*M. Nothing wrong with that.
Yeah, there's some crossover. Let's not get all bent out of shape over some perceived differences.
I can't afford any of the highly coveted pedals on either forum. I'm content to window shop and I endorse any effort made in the appreciation of fuzz.
