Great thread. I'm about 90% digital these days, but love to see innovative analog setups. I like a pretty mainstream kind of synth box as a starting point - I've been through a few: Alesis AirSynth and AirFx, Kaossilator 1 and Pro, Kaoss Pad 2 and 3, Electribe EMX and ESX. I'd love to get ahold of a Somms, and a Monotribe Delay. Lately I'm using an ipod touch as the starting point and going through a pretty normal chain of effects (pitch-dirt-mod-delay-reverb), using Eventides and an M9 for the most extreme variations of said effects. So far I've just been using free apps, there are more than enough to make any ios device the most versatile starting point ever. Simple sound buttons like Animal Box, Sci Fi Box, FrightBoxFree, Horror FX, Robot Sounds etc. are lots of fun with the pitchfactor. Some cool free synths: Alchemy, Sound Prism, Sound Warp, Knobs mini, Waviary, Synth String, Thicket, 2SineSyn, Wobble Bass. Star Melody is similar to the Yamaha Tenori-on, pretty rad. Mood Nomad, AmbiSci, and Whisper are nice free drone apps. NeoJulie and NeoKate are two different voices of the same text to speech app. Big Brain of Fire Lite is my favorite free drum kit, because it has a great touch response and you can slide your finger around the kit instead of having to tap each drum every time.

I just got a Kaossilator 2 today(limited edition white, on backorder from GC during the Black Friday sale), and as a former owner of the original mini and the Pro I can easily say this is my favorite one yet. The display screen alone makes it better than the first 2. It's bigger than my ipod, but smaller than my Galaxy S2. I'm particularly impressed with the drum kit and sound effects sections, lots of practical, super useable stuff in there. One thing I hated about the first 2 was that just about every sound had an echo that you couldn't turn off; there are still some of those, but nowhere near as many as before. It also has a mic input, so I can run the ipod through it and grab samples *boner*

i'm now officially GASsing for a PM7 and the little-noticed LF7 as well, which seems like a nice cheapazoid alternative to the Demo Tape Fuzz.

When I play noise shows now its usually Guitar into Fuzz Factory into a Rat.
Sometimes the Rat is replaced by a Fuzz War.

I used to do sets with 2 contact mics one straight and one through Fuzz Factory, a Moog Ring Mod where the LFO goes back into the input, A Doepfer mini case with the module version of Dark energy + a noise module, and besides all that a dictaphone.

Used that set up for a couple of years.

Noise board. I only play 4 notes in this clip in the middle, the rest is the board going whacky.

Bass -> FuzzHugger AB-Synth 5k -> Subdecay Noise Box -> Mid-fi Pitch Pirate -> Malekko 616 -> Amp -> Cabs -> Ears

It's makes weird sounds and I like the weird sounds that it makes. :omg:

I need to get a new piezo element to fix my contact mic, ill do that soon and post a clip of my current setup.

this is a horribly recorded example of what an older setup, using some of the same gear sounds like:

They sell bottle cap contact mics at the store up the road for cheap enough so I don't have to make 'em...

My roommate and I replaced his telecaster's guard with an Esquire guard, and put a piezo where the neck pickup hooked up at. It's seriously the best guitar I've ever used for noise. And a decent microphone.
