2012 was more about selling than buying in my world, but the stuff from the end of 2011 that really made this year is the EQD Ghost Echo and the EMMA DiscumBOBulator. the Ghost Echo has become my always-on ambience generator...i just love the smeared, murky messed-up-plate-reverb sound i can get from it at certain settings as well as the atmosphere it generates turned down to 25% or so. the EMMA has turned from a quack box into a multi-threat device: filter sweeps on staccato drones-through-squarewave-tremolo, watery early Flaming Lips gurgling, and Stephen Stills-style wah-wah effects. the DiscumBobulator's filter sounds better to me than any other EF i've heard; i wish i could marry it with the Prometheus DLX's waveform array, which combined would make the Perfect Filter Pedal. to make it the Perfect Modulation Pedal i'd add a Randy's-style ring modulator and stop buying boxes that aren't delays, reverbs, or fuzz.
