Re: Shin-ei Clone
so I have hit a minor wall...when I am mounting the pots in there is a tab that gets in the way of it sitting snuggly. My instinct is to get rid of it but i dont want to do anything that i will regret so what should i do. What is the purpose of it?
Here is a pic of the tab. I'm sure you guys will know what to do!

Yeah, I always break it off. Some people like to drill a small pilot hole where that little tab goes to make sure the pots don't slip around, but that's what a lock washer is for

Yeah, its just to keep the pot from eventually coming lose if you were to drill another hole that the tab could fit into, but it's not necessary at all. My Kramer uses the tabs on it's pots to make sure they don't come loose, but I just don't care for them

Inter-esting. Thanks for the info. I snipped off those bad boys but my brother and friends came to visit me so I put the project on hold. I'm going to wait until I have a French press full of nice coffee until I do some more wiring. Nice and clean. I also picked up a multimeter for future references.

Re: Shin-ei Clone
So I have been using the stock trannies and the fuzz sounds thin and splattery to my ear - not at all like I expected but interesting nonetheless. I'm going to switch out and around the transistors. Any other tips for making it sound mean and fuller?

2n3904's are in it, no? You could try BC108's or BC109's
