Basses with humbuckers that aren't soap bars or MM
More offset type guitars
Offset semi hollows
More variety of short scale basses
More weird switch combinations like Teisco did in the 60's
!
also I would really like to see someone do some carbon fiber / aluminum hybrids
Yes! All of that would be awesome. I'd love to see a carbon/aluminum hybrid. Maybe carbon thru-neck, aluminum chambered body? Also, more chambered basses that don't suck. .
You could put long dovetails along the sides of the through neck and the body wings... then you could change from hollow to solid and different shapes..
OOOOOOO!!!!! I like the way you think, sir.
Wanna start a company?

I'd really like to see more guitars constructed a la Nelson, where the neck runs through to the bridge with the body being two pieces of additional wood flanked on each side.
I'd also like to see more Dan-Armstrong style pickup swappable guitars

Draw up some 8-bit graphics that people who never played an NES game think NES games look like, and wear some silly clothes in your Kickstarter video.
BAM, FUNDED.

But I would actually want to make something that you know... is well built and designed...

A big ass Tele bridge for bass so the bridge pick up is the bridge pickup
Bass pickups up close to the neck.
More pickups with switches so you can get every combination.
Reissue of the Burns/Baldwin Jazz bass with batwing head stock and split sound pickups.
Colors more colors that aren’t all from 1957

I don't get why aluminum guitars haven't really been advanced more then they have...

double necks. bass on the bottom. I hate having to put up guitars and reach for the basses or vice versa when im being indesicive.
MORE DOUBLE NECKS ARE REQUIRED.

im totally with you on the "more tremolo experimentation" deal too. hell i guarantee you could design an attractive looking mountable jaguar-esque trem that looks like a bigsby or an old trapeze bridge.
mine:
-affordable methods of creative guitar manufacturing (like Vox virage, n junk. more chambered bodies {which ironically used to be a cost cutting thing, rite?})
-a universal mounting system (sorta there. i believe someone has a pup system where you can just like pop and drop new pickups in a snap)
-wider array of finishes
-soft touch switches instead of push pull
-MORE SHAPES
-a return of different types of pickups
-steinberger style necks with an integrated capo (lotsa banjos have moveable capos for the drone string)
-companies that cater to a wider array of guitar styles more effectively (like in the way ibanez and ESP cater especially to the metal scene, but still do other stuff)
-guitar ranges w/ wide pickup options instead of like... if you want a tele w/ hss you gotta get a blacktop or w/e, etc. etc. make it a standard option >:c
i think most of y'all are talkin more from the angle of things-i-want-on-a-dream-guitar than viable-trends-that-should-happen-and-would-be-enjoyed-by-more-than-the-ILF-crowd
