i've considered packing it in at guitar more than once, and stopped for a couple of years in the early 00s because i was bored with it and felt like all i was doing was imitating better guitarists, but i've been at it for so long now that my skill level is way higher than any other instrument. i'm better at guitar, but i enjoy playing bass far more. to riff on what someone said earlier, bass is the most powerful position in a band...you can totally control the sound of the group by your note choice and where you put the notes in relation to the beat. i also find keyboards more interesting than guitar because it's a technical challenge. what i always wanted to do and enjoy the most, though, is playing the drum kit, even though i'm a fairly mediocre drummer...drumming makes me happy.
