My synth set up recently has been 6 including an EQ, guitar was been 4 including an EQ.

I could totally add, and would like to add, about 7 more pedals to my arsenal if I were to make one "master" board. But I usually just like to throw a couple pedals down and see what I come up with using them.

I've got 10 right now, thinking of simplifying it even more to like 7 or 8.

Well actually the reason I don't have more pedals is because I need a job
That's really all there is to it.

I've got about 50ish now, but probably around 12 on my live "rock band" board. The reasoning there is pretty standard - some grit, some drive, some fuzz, some flange, some phase, some delay, some chorus, some verb.

The other are there for experimenting and recording. I find that new sounds can inspire new songs. Sometimes the one pedal that will totally unlock something is the one I haven't touched in months. Interestingly, for recording, I tend to max out around four pedals on at once, but there can easily be ten or fifteen different pedals used throughout a finished song. Sometimes more, sometimes less.

i dont really know tbh. for what i want to do with my new project, it'd probably comprise of:

2 loopers, delay, chorus, flanger, 2 fuzzes, volume pedal, reverb, maybe wah, pitch shifter, tuner

so probably like 10 or so. unless theres some kinda midi pedal or program i'd use hooking up the laptop and have everything synch up like-a that if i decide to not be freform-ish

Bass board = 5 - Pedal Tuner, Octave, Dirt, Modulation, Reverb or Delay

Guitar Board = 8 - Pedal Tuner, Octave Down, Dirt (x2), Modulation (x2), Delay, Reverb

I like that guitar board configuration.
What is the octave pedal you're using?

My octave pedal for the guitar board is currently an MXR Blue Box but I have a Second Voice on my bass board which is going to be replaced by an Octron in a couple of days, so the Second Voice will move to my guitar board. If the Second Voice doesn't do it for me on the guitar board, I'll probably replace it with a Perseus or Robot Devil. The dirt is an Electronix (Ziebek) Buxom Drive and a Tone Reaper. The modulation are a Pleasure Trem 5000 and MXR Phase 90 (soon to be replaced by a Grand Orbiter). The delay is a Disaster Transport and the reverb is a Supermoon. I just scored a used Hughes and Kettner Dual EL84 Statesman, so I am getting a feel for what works with this amp, so some stuff my be going.

I have about 40ish pedals I think maybe more

I currently have about 20ish on the two boards I use (guessing)
One board has dirt and octave stuff plus an RV5 before some drives
the other board is verbs modulation and delay
in the process of adding a feedback loop board in the middle and making one big board thinking around 30pedals not counting expression and TB loops

Normal flow is
Tone Reaper
Pitch and compression (three pitch)
BoostnBuff
Filters and Wah and Vibe stuff
Fuzz War
RV-5
Dirt (Rat-2OD's Bukowski Drive)
Volume Pedal into board 2
Exp Factory and Trem
2 Verbs 3 delays Looper
and Filter Modeler which i like to use to chop the looping signal

Feedback loop will go right before volume add 2 more delays move my second voice in along with a ph3 and a fishnchips EQ (trust me!!!)

Currently need to make more room for an MM4 a super colider and this new amazing dual fuzz the good officer built me

What's the logic behind this rediculous setup?
I don't play out, love pedals, love arranging new boards (which I do for local band guys as well), and I use clean amps so I need tons of drive and stacking options
if you play a reaper and a fuzzwar you will want both on your board
same for monarch and mantra

I like multiple octaves because they all respond differently and I love stacking delays and reverbs
I also like pre-verb and post verb stuff so you need at least 2 and you need a third set to an extreme non musical setting

and I know I have been talking up the megaboard for about a week and a half with no pictures, I am working on it but it's a low priority at the moment

I tend to range from having three to like eleven. 6-8 is my comfort zone, which used to be 9-11. I'm trying to simplify though.

This counts my tuner as one pedal, and my M9 as one pedal.

exactly, but then i'd want to recreate the sound so the effect inspiring would have to be on my board
