I really like my morley pro series. I like that the foot pedal has a long rocker distance; for some reason I don't like cry babys at all. I mostly use it for coloration rather than shicka shickas, or almost like a slow flanger by starting toe up and slowly moving to toe down, sort of an Adam Jones type of thing.

The Teese Wheels of Fire and a Colorsound reissue were under heavy consideration, but I was able to trade a ring mod for that Zvex Wah Probe. It's not really useful for live stuff, as the switch is on the top, but man, it's great for recording. I like the sweep a lot and the ability to tap the corner of the plate with your finger to get some cool glitchy bits. I'm interested in this Bad Horsie though, switchless you say? Hmmm.

I was in the same boat...was keeping an eye out for colorsounds/WoF but a wah probe popped up for a decent price so I grabbed it.
It's in the same spirit as the other two, and the sho boost does make for some awesome bursts of feedback.

The second pedal I bought, a few years ago, was a $350 Colorsound Wah, brand new, from Macari's online. It was the first wah I'd ever been seriously impressed over. Now, any other wah I play just feels silly. I need that deep throw ( :surprise: ) it's got. Also, doesn't Prince use one? I win. It honestly sounds amazing.

Are all the morleys switchless or just the bad horsie? I always like those big chromed out ones. I've never owned a normal wah, I feel like if I do I'll start down another slippery slope and end up with 3 or 4 of them.

Hands down, the old Maestro Boomerang.
I had a '69 Vox Clyde McCoy, and it was great too, but I was offered too much $$$ to keep it.
I had a 70s Thomas Organ with a TDK inductor that was OK, but it really came to life with a Whipple.
The Teese WoF is great, so'd the original Colorsound it's based on.
I've also got an old DeArmond that is the size of an aircraft carrier but sounds real close to the Clyde. Really good. Cheap too (I think it cost $17 or thereabouts).

Other than that, I've had a bunch of bog standard Dunlop (meh) and modern Vox RIs (bleh). Not worth modding those things, for what it costs in time, money and effort.

Never heard an old Japanese wah I liked -- the Shin-ei/Ibanez types mostly used transformers instead of inductors. The fuzzes in the fuzz-wahs like the Ibanez standard and the Shin-ei are cool though, and think of the wah as a tone control and you're good, just don't expect voodoo child. The Roland Double beat is the one exception -- it has an actual inductor and can be modded to Vox type spec, so you can use it like a proper wah.

I really wanna try an Electro Harmonix - Queen Triggered Wah, from the sound clips I heard it sounds really musical and nice... but I doubt i'll ever see one in an affordable price range.

I tried a 70s colorsound in a guitar shop, was offered it for £40 but didn't have the cash at the time, was quite nice though, not a huge sweep mind.

I just modded the crap out of my Cry-Baby... it's just the basic wah circuit anyway.

I don't understand Crybabys, the sweep is so fucking small. That said I fall under the NOT shicka shicka category, prefer the "cocked" wah sound.

The Wilson wah looks pretty cool. Anyone try one? I am going for that stooges sound. I think they used a Tycobrae wah as did Black Sabbath. Chicago Iron makes copys but they are pretty steep in price.$350.00 I want to get the Purple Haze Univibe clone by Wilson effects.

I've seen Chicago Iron Parababy wahs (the parachute but in a standard wah case) for 150 used, so that's pretty reasonable
I'd look out for one of those instead of the cool enclosure'd ones if you're trying to save some dolla

I really don't know if my opinion is valid anymore...

I use my bad horsie as a hand controller to tame the feedback from my diddley bow into musical whale calls.

:idk:

Morley Power Wah, mostly because all I had to do was move an LED around to make it not rape my low end and I can't break it by using it too hard, for I am quite a large fellow and wahs with bitch ass plastic enclosures die.
