I wonder if you could just put one diode from lug 1 to lug 2, and then the other diode in the opposite orientation so that they are oriented with the line facing each other, and then solder the middle lug to the side of the board that requires the line, and then the two other sides of the pot to the board where the second diode hole would be. Just thinking way out loud

It's really easy. One of the designs I've been working on does this.

That circuit and the fuzzstainer are my favorites. Hearing that LED toggle would be amazing.
