Yeah, I just wasn't as fond of the sound on the low end side, and even with the blend I couldn't seem to find a balance between too much highs and not enough. :idk: Probably related to my gear and playing, but that annoyed me a bit.

Some more thoughts on this one? Anyone?

I'm very interested in this pedal, in the soundclips I like the harmonics and overtones very much. But reading all this above I'm a little afraid that it might be a little too harsh...
Cause I love my low end! ;-)

FWIW I got a ss/bs mini fuck a few months ago and that NAILS the chimey bright thing I enjoyed on the driving notion for me, has nicer lows, and is generally more versatile. Might not work the same for everybody though. :idk:

its an extreme pedal and sounds completely different to any other drive i have, its like a different species entirely

i sometimes think that the high circuit is too high, painfully too high, and that the low circuit is too low but then when i switch it off the guitar just sounds so boring and dull by comparison

if you love your low end then you can get mental subbass like low end with it, but in a grungey fucked way

Yeah, I probably said that all wrong because it doesn't get rid of any low-end frequencies, it just kinda makesthem sound synthy and different. I quite liked it (it does some sweet extreme bass fuzz) but it just wasn't what I expected out of the Driving Notion, which I was more looking at as a light OD.

Driving Notion sounds crazy metallic and clangy in demos, always feared I'd hate that in person, like a fatter meaner OD like the Fuck.

Could be cool to stack the Driving Notion with fuzz/dirt tho and get some extreme sounds, maybe similar to what the DBA KIll Kill Filter spits out when paired with fuzz. That could be cool, metallic clangy fuzz I like. OD, not so much.

The clangy thing is cool, but yeah a bit much for me as an OD. It did play nice stacked with other fuzzes though, cool tone shaping thing, or boosting the lows a shitton into another fuzz was real cool. Actually thinking about this maybe I should get one because it IS a cool pedal...

I loved it. Just got rid of it to feed my pedlul addiction. If I ever have more expendible cash I'll get one. It's nice to have, but more of a want vs. need type of thing.

Anyone have thoughts on how this responds to rolling back the guitar volume knob?

I think I remember it cleaning up. Not 100% though.

My memory is a bit hazy, I only borrowed one for a while, but I think it did clean up a little bit.

I got this a day or so ago. Fuck, I love it so much. Greatest bloom and decay, especially with something boosting it. Sounds cool stacked with other stuff, but I've been enjoying it on its own, sounds like a cranked Blackface meets FZ-1 or something. The high can definitely get too brutal, but there are enough options with the mix and input gain knobs to control that. Yeah. Fucking love it.
