I'm partial to Vox cleans because of that little extra chime, but for just plan fucking clean, Twin can't be beat.

I gotta say I prefer Super Reverb cleans to Twin Reverb cleans. Won't get quite as loud and breaks up a little quicker, but will still be LOUD and clean.

Hiwatts are cool, although these days I'd buy a Reeves instead if I was buying new, which I probably would unless I researched heavily into the things.

Ampeg V4s are radd, too, but I don't regret selling mine. I just love stupid Fender amp reverb, and almost any amp without it makes me sad - ha, probably why I'll never get that Hiwatt or Reeves.
Maybe partying will help.

I prefer Super Reverbs to Twins as well. Twins are just a little too bright to my taste.

Yeah, when I answered Hiwatt before, I actually meant a Hiwatt-style amp. Today's Hiwatts aren't exactly like the Hiwatts of old. I'd take a vintage Hiwatt over anything new, but that may not be practical.

I never use reverb. So, that's not something I take into consideration when amp shopping. Obviously for people like Zounds an amp w/o reverb is a deal breaker.

JC-60 with a beefy sounding 12". Clean, sparkly, thick creaminess.

Look at Egnater. I have the Tweaker 40 and it has more clean headroom than I need (for a loud band). All my pedals sound great through it. Fuzz can be a little weird with amp gain up and a DS-1 sounds really thin but I just use the amp's overdrive in place of that. I was referenced to Egnater by another guy here at ILF. Check them out.

Are we now talking about general clean sounds?
Then a VOX with EF86 or Divided by 13 JRT 9/13. Nothing has that pentode über-harmonic structure. At least to my ears. And i have some amps and also played some ;)
